Overview
More
The Romsdalen valley is long and narrow with majestic towering mountains on either side. Along the valley floor in a wild and beautiful setting runs the foaming salmon river, Rauma. At Verma the Rauma runs through a 30-40 metre deep gorge, forming Slettafossen waterfall. The waterfall is secured by fences on either side and can be crossed by a bridge. At 1,000 metres, Trollveggen is Europe's tallest vertical, overhanging rock face. Scandinavian rock climbing started in the Romsdal Alps, which boast some of the world's most difficult climbs. On the opposite side of the valley, the Romsdalshorn peak towers to a height of 1,555 metres. On the E 136 road, directly below Trollveggen there is a picnic area with a tourist information office, WC, kiosk, children's play area and a marvellous view of the mountains.

A must, is Trollvegen ( Troll Wall ), with an impressive 1000 meters vertical drop on one side & Romsdalhorn - peak on the other side. Just enjoy.

Took a coach and train trip through here today. It was superb. The height of the mountains is staggering. The snow! The frozen waterfalls. The size of the fallen boulders OMG.

We took the scenic train from Dombas: beautiful views out both sides of the train and there was a voice-over description in English and Norwegian. Not easy to take photos because of the reflection from the windows (which did not open) but the scenery was...More

The Norwegian nature never seizes to impress. The whole area of Romsdalen is beautiful, with the mountains looking like mythical trolls. Trollveggen being its king. Hopefully it is not surrounded by fog when you visit.

Took a group of friends to the top of Trollveggen - it's marvelous! Of course, we're not crazy enough to climb the steep side, so we drove to Trollstigen in our Oldsmobile, parked it and started walking. After going over Romsdalseggen the day before, Trollveggen...More

This is one of the most beautiful mountain passes in the world. Views to all directions are amazing. Driving through the serpentines can be a bit thrilling. Take a deep breath and be patient. Yield for the busses... The views are worth it.

it is a tallest vertical rock you see from the Rauma train. Train slows down so people can take photo. I did not see any special things about it.
