Gladstone is the only complete Victorian pottery factory from the days when coal burning ovens made the world's finest bone china. Traditional skills, original workshops, and the cobbled yard and huge bottle ovens transport visitors back in time. Visit the gift shop and tea room and have a go at throwing a pot, making a bone china flower or decorating pottery. Please allow two to three hours for your visit. The shop and cafe, which serves a selction of drinks and light lunches, are open to non-museum visitors.

See how pottery was made in one of Stoke-on-Trent's oldest pottery factories, we had a wonder round the gift shop, which is at the end, and i bought a little pencil, and maybe a rubber, i am not sure. The gift shop is a little pricey, but otherwise, this is an amazing place.

well designed, full of interesting wonders of the pottery world, and a wealth of information for children of all ages. It is not so expensive compared to other museums and well worth a visit, both educational and a pleasure.

An excellent three hour visit to the Gladstone Pottery Museum. Lots to see, well displayed with good stand alone collections - eg toilet ware and tiles! Volunteers were on hand to explain and demonstrate some of the old skills but the main attraction for me was the creative use of the original factory buildings including some of the amazing brick... Thank you very much for reviewing us and for your kind words about the museum. Gladstone China was never a household name but it is important now as it's the only early Victorian pottery which is complete with factory workshops and the bottle ovens - which are pretty impressive structures. More

We visited this pottery museum and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. We made a vase and flower each, we are a family of four our 9 and 13 year old were not keen to start with but really enjoyed themselves especially making the vases out of bone china clay. We didn't realise that this museum is funded by EU funding it... More

Thank you very much for the great review and rating, we were thrilled to hear that you'd enjoyed the museum and the have a go activities. Like many heritage attractions we have benefitted in the past from EU grants but we are run by Stoke-on-Trent City Council. We do rely on visitors to preserve the site for future generations and... We were advised this pottery museum was worth visiting and we were so happy we did. Great to do before the Wedgwood Museum as it complemented that visit.

I love museums, and Gladstone is one of the best. The factory has been kept as it was, and there's the opportunity to have a go at making pottery as well as learning about the industry, and how people lived and worked in the past. There's also a very good exhibition of bathrooms and toilets, and a recreated doctor's surgery... More
