The Lake was originally part of the Castle of Chantilly Property. It's 10 minutes from it, and I recommend to stop there if:
- you go from Paris to visit Chantilly's Castle by car , especially in the early morning
- you want to stop for lunch/dinner along the lake where you'll find a restaurant providing pancakes and any kind of beverages.

We arrived at the Chateau on the day before the annual weekend races, and parking was a little restricted. Once we avoided the bus backing our of the closed area and found parking, it was about a 500 meter walk to the Chateau. The chateau is worth visiting on its own, but the Musee Conde in the interior is the place we would return to. It has a wonderful audio guide with many options for in depth listening about the pieces that are of individual interest. The collection includes many pieces that I had not heard about or seen pictured since taking a survey course to fulfill my fine arts requirement in college. When we have to spend a night near CDG airport again in a few months, we may go early in the day just to have an opportunity to visit again and spend more time learning about some of collection we could not see during this visit.

This little lake and small Chateau were just a short way from where we stayed. A very pleasant walk around the lake and there was a cafe on site.

Not to be missed if you are in the Chantilly area.
In the warmer season there is a Creperie there as well!
Have a stroll and then lunch at the Le Regent in the village!

So serene, the perfect place to just relax and let the world pass you by. The little chateau was so pretty.

La Reine Blanche is a small chateau which is used as a event function venue now. It sits on the edge of les Etangs. There is a nice walking path completely around. Lots of bird life including swans and egrets. Fishing also but you must have a fishing license. A very natural, peaceful place.

The Commelles ponds are one of the most remarkable sites in the Chantilly forest!
They are part of a natural area of ecological interest, protected as a classified site under the Domaine de Chantilly. During the Romantic era, this site was frequented by artists such as Chateaubriand.
