Park is beautiful and camping experience was and has been great over past 12 years. Last trip in July was spoiled with poor customer service regarding reservation for my site with disability discount. Representative would not assist with minor error on certificate, no flexibility with this concern and full campsite fee was charged. Unfair!

We camped in this park for 6 days recently. I really appreciated being so close to the beach so I could swim. Some people have commented that there is a comfort station where the showers are. This is incorrect. There are no comfort stations at this campground. There are two separate showers that are not wheelchair accesible. They are located across the road from the park. If you have problems walking as I do you will have to drive or be driven to the shower building.
There isn't alot of privacy, but as we have a trailer it was okay.
The chipmunks are numerous and really aggressive. They will jump right up on your picnic table while you are eating. They are not afraid of people.
The one thing that really bothered me was the number of flies and stable flies. I was bitten on the legs and ankles frequently. I finally had to put on some insect repellant lotion.
We enjoyed our stay and will return.

This was our first time at this provincial park and although we won't rush back, it's a great place for a long weekend. The beach is really nice, looked after well by the park staff and the sand raked nightly. The park store is well stocked with emergency items, souvenirs, stuffies and ice cream. If you have a boat, they have a great boat launch and mooring facilities if you have a boat. This is an excellent park to relax, swim and go fishing. The dumping station is just in the middle of one of the roads so I can see it tying people up if you were trying to reach your site up the hill from there. There are no comfort stations, but there are shower and laundry facilities across the road at the cabins. I'm the camping area there are just vault toilets. We enjoyed our stay at this cute park and it would be a great place for avid fisher people and boaters. If you are looking for a park to stop at on your way north, they are very close to highway 69.

Camp site not well suited to a 36 ft RV and there is not a lot of privacy. The lots are strangely marked and it was hard to follow the map. When we arrived it was very wet and our site was partially flooded. Unfortunately we did not stay due to the stench and bugs resulting from standing water. The park itself looked beautiful beyond the campgrounds. We just were not feeling comfortable in our reserved spot. I would recommend to those not looking for a quiet camp ground due to the small park size.

Quiet and well-treed provincial park in Georgian Bay area. We picked a campsite that was one of the "recommended" sites for our tents and it was great. A bathroom close enough, the beach a quick 1-2 minute walk and a small canoe/kayak boat launch nearby. The staff is friendly and the Conservation Officers walk around and say hi and get to know who is staying in the Park (and had some funny stories to share). People are friendly. There are no extra amenities but the beach, fishing and nearby town make it special and a place where you can enjoy a week away.

This small Provincial Park doesn't have all the bells and whistles larger ones have, but that's partially why we love it so much. There is no need for a vehicle once you are set up, since the entire park is walkable. No need to drive to the beach or boat launch. Bathrooms are basic, yet adequate. The sandy beach is a great place to spend the day, or finish of a busy day with a quiet dip. Great fishing and watersport opportunities are close by.

Not my favourite park I've been to, but moreso because of space limitations for trailers. It was a bit tight moving our 28' trailer through the roads and the water station. It's also not great having a water station and dumping station in locations where you have to block other vehicles to use them. However, if you're tent camping, it's got some beautiful sites with loads of shade that are nicely laid out. The bugs were atrocious, but it's also the time of year. Nothing the park can do about that. The beach was really nice, and the location of the park itself is great and nicely isolated. The waterfront tent sites are gorgeous. Just down the road from Pointe au Baril, which has an awesome gas station with a burger bar, small diner, and the basic essentials. I would return in cooler temperatures, or for tent camping. Not in peak season with a trailer.

As life-long tent campers without kids, this is one of our favourite parks. It is small and quiet which suits us. The fishing is great and there is nearby boat rental. Lovely beach and rocky shore.
As with all parks, some sites are more private than others…we have our few favourites. The site descriptions in the online reservations are accurate.
There are some negative comments here from RV/trailer campers. The nearest park with the space and recreational amenities they seek is Killbear.
We have never had a negative experience with the staff, and in 20 years only one incident of loud partying, which was handled very well by the warden. We have never had to wait for a shower. Not parents, so never noticed that there is no playground or activities, but have seen many families camping happily over the years.
It is bear country…camp safely folks.

The staff are great, we had a great time, helped us identify a small snake. The cottages are clean and private. Saw some great wildlife around us and heard a few. It’s located in the middle of places to go like Killbear and Grundy Provincial park and lots of trails. We really enjoyed this place for our second time. Great time with family. Thank you to the staff!

Lovely smaller PP. Some but not a lot of big rig sites. Awkward water fill station with no end on the hose for auto fill hookup but we managed with jug fill ups!! The lovely calm cove with beautiful beach makes up for it all!! Awesome Sept weather with temps over 20 every day with full sunshine!! 🪵🌞🍁

How is staying at the cottages at the sturgeon bay
Written July 29, 2015
I have not stayed in the cottages myself but I have heard very few complaints and many good reviews. As long as you know what to bring and are prepared (pots, pans, other cookware, dishes, utensils, your own bedsheets and blankets) it should be a great experience. They are across the road from the main part of the camp, which gives a little more privacy, and the park is very small so it's not a long trek to the beach. Probably 10 minutes walking at most. You're still able to have camp fires at the cottages as well.
