The place made me feel like I had spent a century in the past. The ruin of the fort is well maintained. A local organization takes care of the place. If you played Assassins creed IV, you will agree with me, in this place you are in the video game. Another fort on a small island, "Fort Zanglais" is nearby. Four old cannons lay on the ground. The site may need improvement, but I recommend a visit.…

The ruined Fort of the Olive Trees lies on a point of land west of downtown St. Louis du Sud and within sight of the new stadium. Walk under the palm trees and past some simple buildings, where you can order a catch of fresh seafood for a later lunch, toward the stone walls that come down to the sea. In October 2014, it was suffering from complete lack of maintenance, with trash here and there. But ignore that, visit the alleged dungeons and climb the walls to imagine the time when the French fought off the English, before the slaves revolted to claim their freedom. It's a beautiful site. If you have time, hire a boat to take you out to Fort St. Louis on the Ile des Anglais in the bay.…

Fort de Oliviers is a hitorical french fort from the colonia era just outside the town of Saint Louis du Sudm la ville de Louis XIV. It has increddible pieces of artillery (french canons) on display and still intact chambers along with rampart walls over looking the Caribbean sea. It is a must see when visiting Aquin, Zanglais or Saint Louis du Sud. Fort de Olivier is the sister fort to Fort de Anglais accross the bay of Saint Louis du Sud. The entire fort can be visited in less than an hour. Very scenic and lots of photo opportunities.…
