A very exiting castle to explore with an interesting history. It is well explained on posters as you walk around. The view from the top is beautiful and we were sure it would be haunted by ghosts at nightūüėČ. People in period costumes were selling...More

Sp√łttrup Castle is one of the very few wellpreserved danish castles dating from the middleages; most have been either torn down or thoroughly modernized during later periods. Sp√łttrup was probably finished in the 1520's when it was owned by the Viborg bishop J√łrgen Friis. The...More

This place is a bit off the beaten track in Denmark, but the drive to find it is rewarding. In addition to the medieval castle itself there is also a nice garden and a good restaurant to visit as well. After fighting a bit with...More

I could not get inside because of my time of arrival there. But besides this, outside the castle is gorgeous!! I hope to come back one day for a full visit.

A little off the beaten track but well worth the effort. Well preserved and great educational focus. Something for all ages and shows how the castle evolved over the centuries with each owner adding to it's story.

We first visited "Sp√łttrup Slot" (the Danish name) back in the 1990s. Since that time they've added flower and vegetable gardens, grounds, and a nice big visitor center and gift shop. The castle has a few pieces of old furniture and some interesting artifacts and...More

A visit to this place is definately worth it. The museum-building looks new and is beautifully built. The toilets looks luxurious! If you walk through the museum you walk down a nice road to the castle. You can walk around all around the castle. Fun...More

The Sp√łttrup castle lies between the rich farming land and the gap to the North Sea. Small but very well preserved castle showing the rather brutal living conditions through the centuries. Some activities take place through the summer, so check out the website of the...More
