Excellent location, near the small sanctuary and with a beautiful view of the lake and mountains! Structure not very large but well maintained and rich in relics and historical memories. Really interesting visit for amateurs but also for those who are only interested in cycling. Shop well stocked with souvenirs and personal motorcycles disponibiie and kind.

I am so grateful to my doctor for telling me about this wonderful little gem. The museum is beside the quaint church dedicated to the patron saint of cyclists - the Church of Madonna del Ghisallo. The church contains photos and artifacts from the sport and an eternal flame for cyclists who have died. My husband is a cyclist and visiting the church and museum was a planned surprise for him when we visited the Lake Como area. The church and museum are on the top of the mountain with spectacular views. We had a hire car and drove to the site and apart from the car park, church, museum, great view and public toilets there is not much else up there. A kiosk beside the car park was closed but perhaps is open on weekends. I found the museum of little interest (not a cyclist) but husband loved every minute he spent there. As museums go it was modern, lots of wonderful natural light and lots of things of interest to cyclists, including a Ferrari bicycle which impressed my husband.

It's a hard ride to get up here if you are on your bike; plenty of vertical climbing and the Lake is humid! But it is well worth it! The museum is awesome. Several floors of displays. Great new jersey selections at the front including some awesome Bianchi designed ones. Also some old school wool jerseys...
Th next level down had a display of all the Maglia Rosa jerseys that were worn by the Giro champions - all of the years!. Th bottom floor held a vast collection of old bikes including Moser's hour record bike as well as several Merkx bikes. Lierally hundreds of bikes. I did buy some headbands in the gift shop - all that I could carry!

This is a wonderful museum. Understandably, it has an Italian focus and captures the glory of early racing to modern. If you are in the area, it is worth the visit. The challenge for this museum is it is located in the middle of nowhere. Such a magnificent building and collection!

Il Ghisallo surely deserves it's place as one the the great cycle climbs in Europe.

The cycling museum and chapel at the top are both well worth a visit, even if you didn't cycle there.

The ride is a hard climb out of Bellagio, followed by a level section and a bit of downhill before the last leg to the top, just when you are wondering how much longer it goes on for Il Ghisallo appears at the top of the last long straight stretch.

I did a loop around and over Sormano then down into Nesso for a great circular route with plenty of climbing and great views.

I remember when as a child I used to watch on TV cycling competitions… even though I’m not a big fan of this sport, I found this little museum interesting, it’s fantastic to see with your eyes the bicycles of champions such as Gino Bartali, Fausto Coppi, Francesco Moser and Marco Pantani!

We spent quite a while touring through the museum and enjoyed every minute. Lots of historical information from Army bicycles to current Tour bikes. There’s also a beautiful little church next door that’s dedicated to cyclists!

What an interesting collection of cycling memorabilia and historical bikes at this great little museum. Located next to the church of the patron saint of cyclists. Church had an incredible array of memorabilia too. Well worth a look

This gem of a museum sits in a spectacular spot, adjacent to the chapel of the La Madonna del Ghisallo – patron saint of cycling – and 600 metres above Bellagio, offering spectacular views of Lake Como to the North and East. Together with the chapel it houses a collection of cycling memorabilia, fascinating for cycling enthusiasts and non-cyclists alike. On display one can find: bicycles from the late 19th century to the present time (everyday, military and racing); many of which were ridden by cycling legends such as Coppi and Merckx, together with their jerseys, and biographies of 48 of history's greatest cycling names, historical photographs and much more besides. The museum is run by a small, dedicated and friendly team who did not hesitate to keep the museum open for an extra half an hour when we arrived late by bicycle on Sunday evening (the museum being closed on Monday). Why come by bike? It’s a beautiful and traditional ride (only for fit cyclists or those with low gearing), a pilgrimage for enthusiasts, and the reward is a discount at the museum! Tip for cyclists: free locks are available for all cyclists visiting the museum.

Having by chance stayed in Magreglio during my last visit to Italy, I ended up at Museo del Ciclismo only 800 meters from where we were staying. Even being a non-cyclist I loved the place and the adjacent chapel was catholic surrealistic - bikes in a chapel and a crucifix in a bicycle chain...

I stayed for over 90 minutes...
