We just had a fantastic day with Somoto Canyon Tours. Olvin and Rigo took our group of 8. Our daughter is an ex-diver so loves to jump, the higher the better! My husband and I are closer to 60 and between Olvin and Rigo they took such wonderful care of us all. Rigo seemed to always be there each time... More

Thank you so much for your review. It shows how the canyon is perfect for those visitors wanting to appreciate nature and those who want to be more adventurous. One doesn't have to jump at all if one does not wish to do so. Floating down the river is a great deal of fun too! Our guides are noted for... More

I did not know what to expect, but once you get to the place, make sure you go all the way in to the park entrance. Do not get sucked in by the people that come to you right of the main road. Once you get to the gate, a guide will come out to meet you and explain to... More

Thank you for your review. It raises some interesting points about sustainable rural community tourism which we have been practising since 2008. You are right to mention the problem of the people soliciting tours on the highway at the entrance to the national monument. We have pleaded with the government agencies to intervene to stop this activity but they seem... More

Beautiful place, and the tour was definitely fun. I'm just going to leave some idea of what to expect: - group size will be quite large but the guides look after you well regardless. - the water is moderately cold, so eat a decent breakfast beforehand to keep you warm - wear a lifejacket even if you're a strong swimmer... We really enjoyed the tour of the canyon. It was well organized and we certainly werent rushed through the canyon so it was much more relaxing than arduous. Having lunch included at the end was wonderful as we worked up quite an appetite by the time we finished. Everyone here is very friendly.

I did the longer tour and stayed one night in the accomodation. Everything was great - they are responsive via Whatsapp and email and met me off the bus from Esteli. The guide was great - happy to speak slowly to help me with my basic spanish but also spoke good english. The canyon was beautiful - overall a great... More

Highly recommended: The Somoto Canyon tour is an exciting day of swimming, splashing, and jumping your way down this beautiful canyon and river. The Somoto Canyon Tour Company did everything possible to make our total experience the best. We chose to spend 2 nights with the family, and enjoyed the full day tour down the canyon. The canyon tour is... More

Taking the large tour (5-6 hours tour) for 30 dollars/person with Treehuggers, we Highly recommend this tour. There is also the standard tour (4 hours) with or without jump for 25 dollars. Looking at other comments now, I realized passing with Treehuggers increases the prices sometimes by almost double. Rigo, our guide, is really talkative and makes people at ease... More

Thank you for your review. A couple of points need clarification. Our tour whether booked through our agency Treehuggers or direct via our website is the same price. There is no variance and none of the other operators offers the complete package that we do, including 6h tour, one way transportation from Somoto bus terminal to the trailhead, river shoes,... Best day of my trip to Central America - a must do! Perfect tour guide, beautiful scenery and lovely hot food ready when you return. Would recommend the 6 hour tour, time flies in the canyon.

Drove to Somoto from Esteli (approx 1.5 hours). After a thorough briefing, walked 2 km to the headwaters of the Rio Coco and started our trek through the amazing canyon. Walking and swimming through shallow water and deep pools - everyone was thrilled that they ventured on the trip. The more adventurous participants did cliff diving up to 18 meters...... More

Just to check back in after having done the Somoto Canyon tour with my family. We all had an amazing time!! The operators of Somoto Canyon Tours were absolutely wonderful! It's a family owned operation and we felt like part of the family welcomed into their home. We stayed the night Friday night and did the tour Saturday morning. I... More
