Nice lighthouse to visit. Be prepared to climb up and down ladders to visit the top. Nice, small museum inside. And we saw a fox as we were leaving!

The oldest lighthouse on the island and one of the few circular brick lighthouses on Canada. The grounds are beautiful and clean and include a play area for small children. We did not go up the lighthouse as it is of course not disability accessible, but we expected that. The gift shop was beautiful with a old light from the lighthouse and the staff there were kind and helpful. There is also a chowder house nearby and a teeny beach with public access. Not sure why Trip Advisor says it's closed unless that happened very recently, we were there a couple days ago.

This is a beautiful place to stop. We toured the lighthouse. Climb to the top is a tough ladder like climb but worth the view at the top. Very picturesque!

Beautiful views, wish we’d been there at a time when you could go inside. Sadly our schedule meant we could only manage 1 lighthouse, glad we picked the oldest.

Beautiful view! Excellent picture taking opportunities. They do offer tours but we didn't take advantage of this. Interesting that it is the oldest lighthouse on PEI.

Even though the actual light station was closed when we were there, there are info boards highlighting its history. There are comfortable chairs and benches for viewing the sunset and for overlooking the cliffs. Ample parking available.

Was quite interesting to climb the steps to the top, but to also learn the origins of Point Prim specifically. The staff inside gift shop were fantastic, especially the Australian host (sorry can't remember her name). She was a hoot.

This is worth a 30 minute drive from Charlottetown to visit this lighthouse. It is so well maintained and interesting. Pay the small fee to go to the top. The views are spectacular! Cap off the trip with a chowder at the restaurant.

I've visited many lighthouses in PEI including Souris, East Point, West Point and North Point, but until I visited Point Prim I hadn't seen the best. This is the only round brick lighthouse in Atlantic Canada and it's a beauty. The sign going in says it is the only one in Canada, but our guide said it was one of three. It's also the oldest lighthouse on the island, dating back to 1845.

Visiting the gift shop which is actually an exceptional display of PEI craftsmanship, is free. If you can resist buying something here you are the exception. We opted for a mermaid doll for our granddaughter.

The visit is not complete without entering and climbing the lighthouse which does require a fee. The climb to the top is not that hard, but requires concentration because the steps are more like a ladder than a stairway. As usual the view from the top is great as it is from any lighthouse I've ever climbed. On the way up you can see the immensely tiny room (an oxymoron I know, but appropriate) where the lighthouse keeper stayed before the separate keeper's house was built. Kids will love the little box with a handle that actually activates a fog horn.

The Belfast area of PEI has a ton of things to do and it is well worth turning down Point Prim Road to see some of them including the Hannah Bottle Village and having great seafood at Point Prim Chowder House.

Did you know that Point Prim Lighthouse is an amazing venue for an outdoor summer wedding? It's also a venue of choice for the annual "ham radio" (PEI amateur radio) group to contact folks from around the world. Dog friendly too (on lead, of course).
