- ChaitanyaCambridge, Canada1,236 contributionsGreat Sunset ViewsWe arrived at Point Prim lighthouse for sunset and were happy we got to see the beautiful sunset. Nice spot to spend an evening and see the beautiful views you get when you arrive. We were lucky to see some baby foxes in the area too, which made the visit better. They have benches and a good size area - which can used to have a picnic setup for people to spend few hours at. Definitely worth visiting when you have time.Visited May 2022Written December 20, 2022
- d0rrie13Cambridge, Massachusetts56 contributionsWorth a drive on a sunny dayIt is nice to see the views from Point Prim. The lighthouse was closed when we were there in May. Apparently it opens for tours in July and August. But the location on a dramatic point looking across the water to Nova Scotia is well worth the drive.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten May 30, 2023

Lots of interesting stuff inside, and the view is spectacular! There is a gift shop with lots of beautiful stained glass, jewelry, hats and tee shirts. A nice way to spend an afternoon.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten August 8, 2023

This is the oldest lighthouse on PEI and is now in private hands with volunteers maintaining it. For $5 you can climb some very steep and narrow steps to the light itself. The view is wonderful up there.

If you love lighthouse and climbing to the top you need to add this one to your list. I loved it. And there is a fantastic beach just up the road. It was my favorite beach on the Points East Coastal Drive. Check it out.

You can go inside of the lighthouse, though you got to pay the admission to get in. There's a gift shop nearby. Maybe you pay admission there.
There's a great view of the beach and ocean behind the lighthouse. There are these information displays behind the lighthouse as well.
It's just a lighthouse. The oldest one in PEI.

i’ve been visiting point prim (and climbing it) just about every 3 years since I was a child. i’ll be 30 next month and took a trip up to the island with my dad to visit some family, so of course point prim was on my to do list! the view is amazing with the red cliffs behind the lighthouse. easily my favorite lighthouse on the island (and the one i’ve climbed the most!)

PEI has dozens of lighthouses but this one was a treat because it has docents ready to tell you about it and you can climb it. I’m pushing 60 and don’t live heights but this was really a great experience (just have both hands free and don’t look down). The rooms you go through as you climb are fascinating and the view at the top is s treat.

The oldest Lighthouse on PEI is a must see. Well preserved and cared for. The nearby gift shop has the best items to remember your visit.
Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure we received a good understanding of this treasured landmark.

Nice lighthouse to visit. Be prepared to climb up and down ladders to visit the top. Nice, small museum inside. And we saw a fox as we were leaving!
