OMG! Go at sunrise. It’s so so beautiful in every sense of the way. The light changes so much afterwards that it does not even feel the same.

Going down to the beach requires being in real shape and proper hiking sandals. A lady in flip flops fell and hurt her knee just before we descended. This is a REAL difficult descend. There are ropes when there are not steps. And it’s slippery even when sunny. I’m 52 and I did it without help but it took TEVA sandals, focus and some good legs.

Bottom line: unbelievably beautiful. Go at sunrise!

First when you arrive you need to pay for "parking" and then 100 meters before going to the PUBLIC BEACH, you need to pay entrance for that public beach, and the entrance is 35000 IDR, and then you can try to go down, but if you don't have appropriate shoes, don't try to bother yourself to go down because it is impossible, also for that entrance they don't manage to put normal fence, and if you come down to the beach, if you are not good swimmer, you will not swim because od the waves. And then you just pay 35000 for the picture, also if you want to go to the atuh beach, you also pay that entrance.

Beautiful scenic place with great view. It’s entry is chargeable & they provide a bottle of mineral water along with ticket. There is a very steep staircase to reach the beach. But if one can manage to reach till end it’s very mesmerising . We can easily click pics from above too.

It was hard to rate this experience if I being totally honest. The walk down to the beach is extremely frightening in my opinion and suggest not bringing more than one bag with you as it would add onto the struggle of the experience. The steps are carved into the mountain and they are extremely narrow and get narrower as you go down and then there are a few bits where there are no stairs anymore and you have to do down steep rocks with a rope. I suggest wear tight gripped shoes, I wore flip flops and had to take them off and go bare foot incase of slipping. It is super easy for something to go wrong and end badly I think and there are many people always going down at once so you feel like you have to rush as people are trying to push past etc. you definitely have to be fit and healthy to do this. Also please do not swim at the beach!!! I saw someone standing just up to his ankles in the sea and ended up falling back with the waves and getting swept and struggled to get back to shore and back up on his feet! I have also heard from my tour guide and others that there have been deaths from people trying to swim or standing a bit too far in the sea or from climbing all the way down to the beach. However the most beautiful views ever, it’s like in a movie, truly and utterly beautiful. I was lost for words. I would say it made up for the whole frightening experience. I will never forget it. Most beautiful place I’ve been. Definitely recommend it but please do be careful ! In my photos I have a picture of the easiest bit of the stairs but does get harder !!

Stunning beach and rocky outcrops in the ocean. Strong currents so not a swimming spot, but great for taking photos.
Car park charge and given bottle of water. Access to both Diamond Beach and Atuh Beach from same spot.
Very steep narrow path down to Diamond Beach - ropes in place at 2 points to help ‘easy abseil’. Long waits to get past these points due to lots of tourists in poor shoe wear and carrying lots of bags/towels/bottles etc leaving no free hands to help get up/down the path. Bit frustrating but worth the wait to enjoy the beach.

So the beach itself is a gorgeous place but it is extremely dangerous. Me and my 2 friends are very capable swimmers and we nearly drowned on this beach. We saw a couple old signs warning not to swim but were reckless, only went to water up to our waists, but then the waves, currents and riptides swept us into the sea and we honestly werent sure if we were gonna make it. We'd never been more terrified. Trying to get back to the beach is super exhausting and we eventually did make it, but there were several more people who had to be carried out of the waves by a helpful man who saved their lives.
If a single person reads this and it stops him from swimming in there, ill be very happy.

Also, the route down is pretty hard too. Its a very steep staircase carved into the cliff, the stairs are old, narrow, and there is not sufficient support. At some point you even have to use a rope to climb up/down. Id recommend good shoes, most people went in flip flops and it was tough.

Happy to simply look at and enjoy the beauty of the view.

Didn’t feel the need to walk down the steps to the beach, we just wanted the photos.

Popular tourist spot. You could walk down all the way but we didn't bother. We just took pictures part way down the path of the beach. You could walk to the tree house also.

We didn't go down on this one as we had done the Thousand Islands view point a few minutes ago. The views are just amazing and this is a must visit only for that if not anything else. Would recommend to spare some time and energy and go down to the actual beach if possible.
