Definitely worth visiting the mounds, church and runic stones. The birth place of danish history and Christianity. A lovely view from the mounds of the surrounding fields and the pillars showing the boundary of the "village".

We were staying in nearby Vejle and decided to visit the Jelling Viking Stone(only 15 mins by car) . We parked across from the local grocery store and parking was free for 3 hours. After touring the mounds outside we decided to visit the museum....More

The Viking history of this place is is fastening. There isn't a lot to see except the church, mounds, and runic stones. Go to the museum first which will give you a perspective on the mounds, building sites and perimeter fence.

The interactive museum gave a very vivid and stimulating view of viking history and the jelling stones and the birth of Denmark. The walk to valhalla was a particular highlight!

The mounds and runic stones, the old church, the wonderful museum are all within easy strolling distance of one another. This makes it an essential stop when touring this part of Denmark. We made it a destination stop on our itinerary.

If you're visiting the area (or legoland) this is worth a small detour. The Jelling Runic Stones is one of the most important places in Danish history.

Suitable for all ages from 7 and up, the modern UNESCO World Heritage exhibition, with interactive and captivating displays, tells the story of a disruptive time in Danish history. Unfortunately for non-Scandinavians mostly in Danish. Although most signs and displays are both in English and...More

I was really impressed, it is a very interesting story of the vikings, and to see the burial site, and stones. The Museum is very modern and interactive, not a lot of artifacts, but they have done an extremely good job of making the most...More
