Reconstructed church and a burial site, part of the UNESCO WHS. The entrance is for free, you can buy a booklet about the church on site. Opened most of the time. Makes for a short visit when visiting the stones and the mound.

This classic town of Jelling with its important history is a must-stop place when in this part of Denmark. The church is older and small, but the excavations in and around it are fascinating. The nearby museum is very well designed and so interesting.

To be honest I don't really like what they have done to this old church. They have modernised the interior, probably for a very good reason, but nevertheless. It has become too much like an monument of Danish design.

This small church is part of the Jelling experience, it is between the two mounds and adjacent to the museum.

This is a must see if in the area as it houses Rune stones on the church grounds. The free viking museum is across the street and kids of all ages enjoy climbing up the steep burial mound.

To understand the Danish culture, you need to see the church, the yard and the museum. Climb the hills an get a stunning view.

Charming little church, clearly the village's normal place of worship (children's handicraft crosses in porch) but gets crowded with visitors looking for & photographing the tiny silver strips marking the resting place of the Viking from the burial mound nearby. Enjoy the frescoes, & don't...More
