If u find yourself in Sitia you should get up to the fortress- but don’t make a trip for it. We happened upon a kids end of year concert - complete with Cretan costumes & song... lovely backdrop... but still... not a lot there.

We were lucky the fortress was open (8am-3pm). Nice fortress with entrance fee of 2 euros for adults (kids free). Happy we entered, nice if you do not expect to see a lot. We enjoyed the visit. You can make nice pics of you want.

Ancient Venetian fortress with exceptional views. Although information is limited, it's worth visiting and inexpensive at €2 per person. Sits on the hillside in Sitia.

Nothing special. Took 2 euros entrance. And was nothing special. Dont bring children they can fall if the climb the unsafe stairs. Its much better if you visit the churches.

there is very little to see inside the fortress, but the view is impressive. If you want to go in and is a senior the fee is only 1 euro (normal 3 euros)

It seems like they recently implemented a €2 admission fee as previously it appeared to be free of charge. The fort is probably the prominent landmark in Sitia's low key history. There's not a lot to the fort itself but it does offer great views...More

Easy climb up any of the steps in the town to the top and great views. Cheap to get in and so definitely worth it as very peaceful once inside. We sat and read our books on the lawn for a little while!

The remains of this castle have a very interesting history. Just the core of the Venetian/Ottoman fortress remain, with the walls being torn down about 400 years ago (they were going to be rebuilt but never were) and earthquake damage reducing the rest. Nevertheless, the...More
