If u find yourself in Sitia you should get up to the fortress- but don’t make a trip for it. We happened upon a kids end of year concert - complete with Cretan costumes & song... lovely backdrop... but still... not a lot there.
We were lucky the fortress was open (8am-3pm). Nice fortress with entrance fee of 2 euros for adults (kids free). Happy we entered, nice if you do not expect to see a lot. We enjoyed the visit. You can make nice pics of you want.
