Happened across the tour by accident, showing up to a ‘cafe’ around two to realize that a tour starts then. Interesting knowledge of coffee shared with the common folk. Tour includes showing how coffee is roasted (literally watch a batch roast, neat), a short jaunt into the coffee field to explain some local flora and how they interact with coffee making, a ‘point and explain’ in the building about how coffee is processed after harvesting and finalizing with a tasting of the days coffee that you watched roast at the beginning of the tour. We spent an amazing morning learning about coffee and coffee making, both Linda and Ernesto made the experience so enriching. I love that they are looking at each step to provide the most sustainable process to obtain excellent coffee.

We highly recommend this coffee tour. Thank you Linda and Ernie for sharing your great passion, knowledge and commitment to organic, sustainable coffee growing. As we regularly purchase coffee from you (delivery to Canada takes about two weeks from ordering to delivery to our door!), it was so wonderful to meet you in person and tour your farm. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality!…

We had intended to visit the Doka Coffee Estate when we were in San Jose but ran out of time so settled on the Café Cristina instead. We are glad we did! It's a small farm, run by a charming couple who have dedicated the past 40 years to creating an eco-friendly operation that produces the most delicious organic coffee. The highly personalized tour... there were just five of us in the group... was highly informative, covering all aspects of running a small, environmentally conscious farm and business here in CR, as well as a ton of information about the birds, vegetation, climate, history and the science of agriculture. Highly recommended. Telephone in advance to let them know you're coming. Non-strenuous walking (no hills to climb). Friendly dogs follow you around.…

Also we enjoyed the warm and friendly atmosphere at Cafe Cristina and are looking forward to tasting the fresh coffee we bought at home.…
