In terms of the plantings, the National Arboretum is still in the early stages of development but the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection is fully developed with some magnificent mature Bonsais of both exotic and native plants. There are good materials for visitors and also very informative guides to answer any questions.

This collection is amazing and worth a visit. It is serene and calming. The bonsais are beautiful ...a lot of care and skill has gone into it. This collection is a gem in Canberra.

I know very little about plants, but this stop is well worth it. The bonsai plants are amazing. Do go.

I talked about this when I reviewed the National Arboretum. They are in the same place. This place is tranquil, magical and inspiring. I can't wait to get home to Victoria and get into my greenhouse. The entry is by donation and there is a guide there to answer your questions. You will savour the experience.

On display are around 100 Bonsai either loaned or donated from Bonsai artists around the country, and is a magnificent showcase for Australian Bonsai. Most specimens are Australian native trees. This display rivals that great displays I saw in Suzhou in China. The Bonsai and Penjing Collection has an ancient 165 million year old petrified tree stump on display, kindly... More

It is definitely worthwhile visiting if you are at the National Arboretum. Free entry - but a gold coin donation is always good to do. Spend your time admiring the art of the bonsai, and appreciate how much time is spent in creating these. There is always someone working on the bonsai, and they are more than happy to engage...
