I know it's taboo but it's true - not everyone is interested in War Memorials nor having any sort of emotional experience. But if you're not into this sort of thing don't skip this attraction - whilst it is an excellent war memorial it also offers a beautiful view down over Lake Burley Griffen to Parliament House. I'd go so... More

This is so much more than just a memorial. It is a museum of all the conflicts of the Australian Armed Forces with a particular emphasis on WW1 and WW2. There are many 3 dimensional model depictions of various battles and also a number of really good audio visual programs as well as many fascinating artefacts from complete bomber aircraft... More

We spent four hours at the War Memorial, and could have spent longer. There is something to interest everyone. The WW1 and WW2 exhibits are amazing. The dioramas are incredibly real and give a surreal sense of what it would have been like. Very moving! The aircraft and midget submarine exhibits are huge The entire exhibition is world-class standard. Do... More

Most major Australian cities have a war memorial of some description but the one in Canberra is the best of all. The war museum is very informative and you need a good 2 hours to see most of it. At 4.45 you are requested to attend the last post ceremony when an individual on the wall of remembrance is honoured... More

Absolutely the highlight of our trip! We spent a few hours here but really, if you were a real history buff you could spend the whole day. Very informative and interesting museum. Cafe was also quite good given that they have a captive audience.

I visited this memorial when I was in school, however didn't have vivid memories of anything except the eternal flame. I was blown away by the memorial on my second visit when I was old enough to appreciate it completely. The staff and guides are all lovely, very knowledgeable and helpful and are a great asset to the memorial. The... More

You cannot go to Canberra without visiting the Australian War Memorial. This iconic building honours Australia's service men and women who have fought in conflicts all over the world.
