We took our 2 and half year old granddaughter here as we thought she'd like the aircraft and submarine displays. She did. Firstly, there's new ample and free underground parking in the grounds which is useful in the hot weather. If you have a small child it's possible to take a stroller but backpacks with their needs in them must... More

Personally I was struck by the lack of representation of women in any of this. Also the lack of room devoted to the holocaust was surprising. Compared to other museums like this overseas it was disappointing, it's a pity to say it's good for something in Aus but really it's not interactive or innovative compared to overseas comparatives like Churchill... Cannot count the times I have visited throughout my life from young child to a more mature person. There is something for everyone from the youngest with no understanding of war to the oldest with so many memories. It will make you smile, it will make you sad but most of all it will make you think as you contemplate... More

We arrived mid morning and thought we'd have time to spare. We were told at the door it would take at least 2 days to see everything and I have to admit I was sceptical. We left as they were shutting the doors and still didn't see it all! Incredible displays, extremely informative but done in a way which really... More

Planes, guns, tanks, submarines, monuments... - and quite often you will see both kangaroos and rabbits on the green surrounds. There is a plethora of interesting military artifacts and stories contained within this building, but there is one unexpected feature: The Hall of Memory. There is no room like it anywhere.

This memorial truly makes you realise that War should never happen and the amount of soldiers who lost their lives fighting for their country! It is a very impressive place and one who comes to Canberra should visit. It takes a whole day to walk through if not longer.

Thank you for visiting the Australian War Memorial. Yes, it can take quite some time to see all of our exhibitions and galleries, so we always recommend at least a day, and a free tour is also very useful. Thank you for recommending us so highly. More

All Australians should visit the Australian War Memorial, gain just a fraction of a perspective of what our armed forces endured, achieved and sacrificed. If you don't leave there with a new appreciation for our lifestyle today, then I suggest you need help - NOTHING MORE TO SAY!!

The War Memorial is constantly improving. The World War One gallery is interesting and gives a personal perspective of that horrendous war. Ending with winged victory you cannot help but feel touched. The World War Two galleries immerse you in the period. Visit this wonderful national institution and feel the pride.
