We are Australia's 'living' archive – the custodian of over 2.3 million items that we not only collect, but preserve for future generations and share in many diverse ways. Watch a film at Arc Cinema, attend special events in our Theatrette, or explore one of Canberra's most beautiful Art Deco buildings.

What a disaster. Glad we jagged a free parking spot out the front (after driving around for quite a while). Was only there for 5 minutes. After reading write ups in tourist guides I thought it would be interesting. Forget it. I found the lady...More

Love the architecture of this building - it would have been quite grand in its time. We sat in the cinema and appreciated the historical films for what they were. Worth a quick visit if you are in the area.

Federal Government cuts over the last few years have wound back what was once a wonderful visit into a shell of its former glory. Very disapointed.

First the positives: the building itself is a beautiful example of the art deco style. Entrance is free, and the woman at the desk was very pleasant to deal with. However, there's almost nothing there for the tourist. They have one room with a TV...More

We planned to visit the Archive during a stay in Canberra, and looked up the current program on their web site. Set out with our trusty GPS and entered the (small) parking area. No spaces. Drove around surrounding streets, and back to the parking area....More

A sad diminution of visitor facilities it used to have as an educational and inspirational place to visit and learn in a fun interactive way. Advised only two spaces open to the public on a daily basis - a movie theatre showing old (1970/80 ish)...More

If you have looked at the brochures and are expecting a museum full of exhibitions, gadgets and gizmo's then you are setting yourself up for disappointment. However, once you realise that the museum operates more like a cinema things start to make a lot more...More
