- sarmickSydney, Australia92 contributionsGorgeous flowersThe flowers were beautiful and the colours were amazing. The stores were great and the food choices were pretty good. The music was a bit loud, but there was a lot of space to move away to eat lunch. The rides seemed packed, but we avoided that area. We deliberately went on a Monday as the weekend would have been way too crowded. Glad to have gone to see all the flowers.Written September 27, 2022
- kencol2016Gold Coast, Australia35 contributionsCanberra visit SeptemberFloriade was disappointing maybe we expected too much. Not as big as we thought when that was why we visited from Brisbane.. However we visited the new Parliament House, then the old, both we found very interesting and would like to go back to both. The war memorial was also outstanding and again could go back to absorb more. The National Museum has the most amazing visual display of aboriginal artwork called Connection and gosh outstanding well worth a visit. The Mint is also worth a visit.. Flight to and from Canberra via Virgin and Jetstar were outstanding . On time and pleasant travelling. We hear most negative stories about the airlines so ours is positive… we used Uber to get around and also wonderful.Written September 28, 2022
- Happy hound4 contributionsA good day at FloriadeLots of beautiful tulips, poppies and pansies and more on display. The Murrumbidgee Rotary Club had a great paint a gnome or frog activity that kept adults and kids busy for a couple of hours and made for a great souvenir. Best to wear shoes that don't mind some mud (or paint) though as the grounds were quite soggy when we visited.Travelled with familyWritten October 10, 2022

We thought walk to Light Rail, Shuttle Bus to Floriade would be easy, but no! Directions at end of Light Rail only to walk to Floriade. Asking people eventually got us to the hidden Shuttle Bus stop.
And the swathes of tulips and some other flower beds I thought I'd see just weren't there. Rather underwhelmed. Still there had been a lot of work put into what was there - but I just thought too many concessions stands and not enough flower beds! However the live music was a great bonus.

It’s been 20 years since we attended Floriade last, but it was nice to be back. We had a picture perfect day, during the first week it often, not a cloud in the sky so had a beautiful spring day wondering through the flower beds. Whilst busy, it didn’t feel crowded, there was a great choice of food and beverages which you didn’t have to wait long for. My only disappointment was that we had our heart set on Trying Lobster and Co, but they were apparently only coming for certain days of the festival and we were too early… apart from that it was a great day and would highly recommend.

If you love colour and flowers, this is the place for you. It was a great experience, with crafts, stalls, entertainment, fixed and roaming. A delight.

The Floriade Festival in Canberra was amazing! The flower beds were tastefully planted and the different colours were a feast to the eyes.

The floral displays were amazing. A view from the wheel revealed all the intricate patterns in the flower beds.

Disappointing garden beds, only one free kids activity in the school holiday. really a big let down this year 2022. Opens at 9 most vendors not open or just setting up.

Boring....small display !
More retail and food and rides.
Too many prams crowding the narrow walkways...better tulips in the Dandenongs.

We loved seeing the formal arrangement of thousands of spring flowers. Still can’t believe they get them all flowering at the right time. The Ferris wheel was great for a sit down.

No, they are still small green leaves. Mid September to October is the time to see them in bloom.

The Floriade flower beds are only displayed for one months, namely, from around 15 September to 14 October. If you are late, you have missed the wonderful display. Hope you can make it by then.

Hi. We will be in Canberra in the last week of August / first week of September. We realize that this will be a bit early for the official Floriade festival. But are we able to take a walk through Commonwealth Park (the main site of the flowers I believe?) at this time? Would there be any flowers blooming yet at the end of August / beginning of September. Thanks. :)

Hi,
We are planning to visit to Canberra to see the flowers in spring, Tulip Top Garden & Lake Burley Griffin, we know that we have missed the Floriade festival which just ended 4 days ago. Is it still worth it to go ? Are all the flowers still blossoming ?
Hope to get some input on this day trip.
Thanks
Greg

G'Day Floriade is still on and will be for another few weeks. In fact is has just really started. leave the visit for another 7 days if you can, as most of the flowers will be in bloom by then. The Tulip Gardens is well worth the visit. I's also suggest the Australian War memorial, which is a memorial and a museum. Hope you enjoy your stay. Plenty to see and do in Canberra. If your into free good ,local food, Saturday Morning Markets at the EPIC Showgrounds in Canberra is worth the visit. It opens at 8.00am.

We spent four days and there is heaps of stuff to do. I would get a 3infun pass as this saves you money. Also there are heaps of attractions that have free entry. We stayed in Braddon and was perfect as there were heaps of restaurants around the hotel. Very happy that we went to Canberra.
