Come to the Mint, where every single Australian coin in the pockets of millions of Australians is made! While wandering through the Mint's observation gallery you can look into the coin production factory and marvel at Titan, one of our great family of robots who help out with all the heavy lifting. Spend some time in the theatrette where a video will take you behind the scenes to explain the fascinating process of making coins. Check out the rare and historically significant coins on show from the National Coin Collection, which is held in the vaults of the Mint. Mint your own collectable coin and browse the Mint Coin Shop where you can find great gifts, mementos of your visit or even start your own collection! We offer free public tours twice daily Monday- Friday and three times daily on the weekends.

It's a mint, unless you have some interest in currency and how it's made or collecting coins you'll probably be bored. They have a lot of coins to choose from in all price ranges. You can spend an interesting hour or so here.

Really enjoyed the mint. Got there about 45 mins before tour time so had plenty of time to browse and read THEN took the tour. I reccomend you do this or spend time after, as time to read during the tour is limited.

The kids just loved the visit. The tour went well and the tour guide had a great level of knowledge of the exhibits and worked well with the questions from the visitors.

Thanks for dropping by. It’s true that the Royal Australian Mint makes only coins. As visitors always discover, there is a lot of technology and a lot of expertise that goes into coin production, and the country’s coins certainly benefit from having their own dedicated...More

We started our Canberra getaway here. Our tour guide was very informative and kept us all interested with the history of currency especially Australia's. Was pretty cool to see and learn how coins are made.
