Good road

It can get a little busy in places at times but overall this is a good road. There are various stops along the way with food and petrol available.

I enjoyed a nice drive from Sydney to Albury along the Hume Highway. I appreciated the 110km/hr speed limit for a lot of the way. The scenery was mostly of dry grassy hills along the side of the highway. Watch out for speed cameras and police, and be sure to keep under the speed limit. Make sure you have enough... More

Is this Australian standard. A freeway has to be clear, clean and with few or no bumpy areas (as few as possible, and as silky as possible), but Hume Highway from Sydney to Goulburn section at least, is not so good in some areas. Yeah its pretty darn good for a highway. Not to many potholes or hitch hikers there were no tolls to speak of. The lack of road kill was impressive., I only saw 1 dead wombat (my partner says she saw a dead kangaroo, but I am weary to believe her as she was sleeping a lot and may just have... More

The drive from Sydney to Melbourne along the Hume Highway is relatively easy and straightforward by Australian standards.
