You can appreciate the size of the graveyard as you approach it from the direction of Bronte. Its huge . Like any old graveyard there is a lot of history recorded here via the headstone inscriptions. It is a cross reference of some of the people who emigrated to Australia years ago . There is an array of headstones varying... More

One of the most picturesque places in Sydney. A beautiful, well-maintained cemetery positioned on a cliff overlooking the ocean. There are some lovely statues here and one could spend hours with their camera trying to position the statues just right against the ocean background. It's fairly empty with not many people spoiling the views nor peace. It is large enough... More

Whether you're a Sydney resident or a visitor the Waverley Cemetery is well worth a visit. Plan to include it with a stroll or power walk along the Coastal Walk. Spectacular views of the Eastern suburbs coastline and a forest of sculpted marble await.

This cemetery, listed as one of the Top 10 in the world, has magnificent views across the ocean. Containing the graves of some famous Australians (such as Henry Lawson) along with some of Sydney's wealthiest people of the 1800s and 1900s, this cemetery also has some magnificent headstones and monuments.

Pretty much stumbled on this during our Bondi to Coogee walk. Might I say OMG. I could have spent hours admiring the craftsmanship, the history, the names.

... I mean, if there is life after death then this would be the perfect spot. Amazing view, low rent, walking distance to the beach. Joking aside, it is quite an impressive cemetery. It is worth wandering between the tombs and looking at the tombstones. From simple to fancy. Pretty much any ethnicity can be found. And on top of... More

This was visited by the suggestion of my 15year old daughter. We found it and went for a 'quick' walk, 1 1/2 hours later we went back tot he car. this was a very interesting place, lots of history. We saw a grave of a young person that died in the 'Greycliff disaster in 1927' which none of us had... More

I caught the bus out to the Bronte Beach area and walked to Waverley Cemetery. One of the best ways to learn about a city and it's history is to take a leisurely stroll through an historical cemetery. In Sydney Waverley is the history of the foundation of a country, of a continent. Beyond the history lesson Waverley is also... More

Great walk to watch the beachfront and enjoy a quite location. The view from the cemetery is really great and it's located right next to Bronti Beach along the Coogee-Bondi walk.
