A ferry ride in Sydney Harbour is a must do for any visitor, but do remember this is regular public transport, and not specifically for tourists. And being public transport, it is subject to the usual pitfalls - delays, high fares, indifferent staff etc.

The ferries run very regularly and always seem to be on time. The tickets are easy to locate and buy and the overall experience is comfortable and satisfying.

On a visit to Sydney, we took the ferry from downtown to the Taronga Zoo. No fuss, no stress. Enjoyed by all three of us Mom, Dad and teenage daughter.

Used the ferries extensively today. Travel to Watson Bay for lunch and then up to Parramatta for dinner. The views were outstanding. Great service, helpful staff all on an Opal card. Can’t beat views and value
