Great Shopping and People Watching

Beautiful heritage arcade with stunning architectural features. Lovely unique shops and a great place for a coffee, so you can take in the height of the ceiling.

A throwback to old skool European style shopping, I enjoy visiting arcades like this. The architecture and general vibe are just cool. Love all of the glass and the old elevator. A great place.

Walked around THE STRAND ARCADE on Monday 14/11/16, I have been through this Arcade numerous times with some excellent quality shops, great place to relax inside with a couple of cafes to choose from, some unusual small shops selling high end merchandise. With 3 levels to explore either using the stairwell or into the old fashioned lift there's lots to... More

This arcade has retained the appearance and feel of yesteryear. If you go the 3 Rd floor, you can still find a cobler and suit maker. There are a couple of coffee shops which are are well patronised.

This is a beautiful building that has been preserved well. Modern day shops make it the perfect place while away a few hours.

What a pleasure to walk into this amazing arcade. The Strand Arcade is a Victorian-style shopping arcade in Sydney, New South Wales. The Strand Arcade is located in the heart of the Sydney central business district, between Pitt Street Mall and George Street. What a delight as one is transported back in time to Victorian times. There is a variety... More

One of my favourite places to visit when I arrive in Sydney- love the history and architecture of the arcade, reeks of quality and love the stores and cafes here. One of Sydney's better Italian restaurants, Pendolinos, is also located here. So much better than the nearby newer shopping complexes like Westfields.

I first visited The Strand Arcade in 1986; this was my second visit after 3 decades. The interior and facade have been diligently preserved and maintained. It is always a pleasant walk through the arcade even if one is not shopping.

If you like the old this is a fine example of restoring the old to create a beautiful shopping experience. We happened to be there over a weekend where they had specialist speakers talk for half an hour about their crafts. We enjoyed listening to Alan Tomkins an Australian guitar maker who shared his skills with a small audiance while... More

The best thing about The Strand Arcade is that within my lifetime it has barely changed. It maintains the old style feel and suits the modern day part of Sydney. Don't forget to visit Haighs B

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
