Description:

We are architects and we want to share our city with you.

We organise...

We are architects and we want to share our city with you.

We organise intimate walking and bicycle tours that are open to the general public. We also arrange private / customised architectural tours and itineraries on request.

Taking the form of a series of urban provocations, our conversations are straightforward and jargon-free exercises in story telling. Aimed at the expert-enthusiast, we want you to understand the 'why' of the city whilst exploring the most provocative and daring projects Sydney houses; works of architecture, public art and landscape that inspire and delight but also projects that reveal something of Sydney's grimy pulse. We are interested in ideas and in the drivers of city; the vibrant network of invisible forces - political, cultural, economic and environmental that give the city form.

Get stung by architecture. Sydney will never look the same again. We promise!

Eoghan was fabulous and the tour was an interesting mix of history, politics and, of course, architecture. We thoroughly enjoyed this walk around modern Sydney, even in the pouring rain. We just wish we would've had time to sign up for the Utzon tour too. Highly recommended.

My wife is an architect. I am not. As such, I am dragged to a ton of projects, lectures and tours that I would probably otherwise ignore. To my surprise, the SAW1 tour was wonderful--engaging, interesting and varied. Eoghan has been giving these tours for upwards of a decade and it shows. He's personable, knowledgeable and generous. He talks about... More

Thanks Jesse. Keeping in mind the idea architecture is the great public art, you are the one we're aiming for; conversations architectural to the design-inclined. Thanks for posting a review. Much appreciated. More

An absolutely remarkable walk with Utzon. I felt like being taken on a ride through a proof of a beautiful theorem. Thanks! Disclaimer - I am mathematician by trade.

On an icy Autumn day Eoghan led us on the Utzon walk - a wonderful experience with the weather NO deterrent. I now have a greater understanding of our Opera House right from its inception - and even an appreciation of the part I wasn't fond of - the dark Concourse under the monumental stairs. I can see this in... More

It is more a standing than walking experience as the tour only covers about three city blocks, with a very knowledgeable guide (a trained architect) giving information about the history, topgraphy, geography and geology of Sydney and the effects it has on the architecture. Fascinating facts from why buildings are elevated on stilts and have no lower floors and how... More

I've been on three of these walks and I've learned so much about my home city! The tour guide gave me really in-depth and yet broad information, so I have a much better understanding of why the city is how it is. The style is casual and friendly. Brilliant!

I think this trip is very suitable to those who are very interested in Sydney contemporary architecture as well as architectural students or architects who want to know about Sydney better. Eoghan is very knowledgable and his explanation is very vivid. He is very kind to answer us all kinds of questions. I will take another walk someday.

A remarkable telling of the Sydney Opera House story: the rare competition and the rescued sketch that won it, the architectural inspiration, the language of the building and the engineering challenge, the prototypes and details, the dramatic sequence of the building's spaces, the Picasso mural that almost was, the finishes and interiors that might have been, the provincial politics that... Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
