This is our favourite fountain in Sydney and we tend to judge all fountains by it on our travels, which is no surprise it is a French design, in the art-deco style. It adds to the beauty of the park, on a particular hot day it is nice to stand, near the fountains as the breeze collects the spray.

This is an outstanding piece of workmanship, cleverly designed and brilliantly executed! The imagery is wonderful and full of ancient history brought back to life. The water holds it together. It is uplifting yet peaceful. Wow! I walk past it nearly every day and never tire of it.

A lovely fountain donated to the people of Sydney. A great place to watch the world go by and enjoy the cooling effect of the water.

An impressive art-deco fountain in the middle of Hyde Park featuring several figures from Greek mythology, including Apollo, Diana, Pan and the Minotaur.

What a wonderful fountain this is and for me is as impressive as the Trevi in Rome. It has some beautiful sculptures and a lovely centrepiece with the water cascading around it. With St Mary's Cathedral behind makes for an ideal setting.

One of the best features of a fairly dull Hyde Park. Pleasant backdrop to your lunch or short break from work.

Right in the center of Hyde Park, Archibald Fountain is hard to miss. It's great to walk by and people watch, have a picnic or just walk through on your way to the botanic gardens or barracks museum.

Archibald was inspired by all things French and built this fountain on the site of Sydney's Colonial race track in Hyde Park.

The Archibald Fountain is a gift from JF Archibald to the people of Sydney to commemorate friendship with the French and Australian involvement in WWI on French soil. The fountain was built in France and sent over to Sydney to be placed at this spot in the Hyde Park. The beautiful greenery and the matching grandeur of St Mary's Cathedral... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
