The only area of Sydney where you can travel back almost to the beginnings of the colony, to early in the 19th century. The old pubs are very good, the eating places are whatever they would be somewhere else, good or mediocre. Interesting shopping, mainly...More

Loved walking thru the Rocks district. We visited on Saturday and went to the Rocks Market where local artists and craftsman sell their goods. We were able to see everything in the market in a few hrs - not too big, not too small. Then...More

I was ‘dragged’ to the market by my wife, expecting the usual imported cr@p you find in these places, but was blown away by the stalls. Vast majority were run by the artist/maker and were truly unique pierces at incredibly reasonable prices. Also lovely to...More

The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and
sailors from the old nation. As the oldest
neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone
streets host more than 100 heritage sites and
buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney,
Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi
“ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the
waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The

Hi Michael, not sure abiut small/boutique hotels in the rock area. Take a look at the Radisson Hotel which is a nice walk down to the rocks, however this is not a small boutique hotel but you will not be disappointed.
