Party vibe

Fun party vibe with a bit of a backpacker scene. Come here for a good night out with some mates. A shame the iconic Coca Cola bilboard is apparently no longer there now.

The strip (from the Coco-Cola sign to the fountain), would have to be the last sebastian of what the cross once was (strip joints, sex shops and night clubs). Even the strip is undergoing changes, hotels turning into, posh apartment buildings. Most of the surrounding streets have been gentrified. The cross is definitely worth a look (especially at night) before... More

I expected Kings Cross to be full of crime, drug dealers and hookers (thanks Underbelly...) but it's actually not as full on as I had expected. Felt pretty comfortable walking through there and loved being in the middle of the city - so many amazing little bars scattered throughout, you need longer than just a weekend to see them all... I had not been to the Cross for many years up until recently. I was shocked at how much this place has changed. It is no longer a seedy violent club/pub scene it is now a trendy friendly area with lots of nice bars and restaurants. It still has its interesting characters and adult venues but it would not be... Some parts of Kings Cross are a bit seedy and can be a bit intimidating if walking alone at night time. We stayed in a hotel about a 10 minute walk from the station and this area was really nice. There are some good restaurants and the area has a good atmosphere.

Some parts are seedy, obviously the Darlinghurst Road area is questionable but I love the Potts Point down Macleay Street, only a 10 minute walk from the station and has some wonderful restaurants and buildings, couple of good hotels and the views to the harbour and city are wonderful. The main drag though is more of a tourist area where... More

You can see the effort put into making this area look better than it used to. There are some swank eateries and boutique shops. The main strip near the train station could get a little weird at night. It is nice to sit in a cafe and watch the world go by. There are some 'specimens of humanity'.

We went to this neighborhood on our way to the Jewish Museum. It has a totally different feel then the tourist section of Sydney. In addition to going to the museum, we sat in a local park and had lunch in one of the restaurants on Victoria street. It was nice to experience a different vibe from Sydney's business.

A happening place at night. Wonderful selection of eateries. Felt totally safe exploring. A seedy side but not threatening. Some interesting characters. Great people watching.

seems to have lost it's vibrancy or something, now quite rundown and scruffy, the redeeming feature is the fountain and some sculpture
