So this gallery seemed to have more Aboriginal Art and paintings - next to some of the pieces they would have a little history which is a nice gesture as one feels a lot more connection with artist. They didn't allow pictures inside

This gallery, located in an historic house in The Rock, is a treasure trove. Showcasing contemporary glass, bronze sculpture, wood carving, painting, and a full panoply Aboriginal art forms and books, it is one-stop shopping for people interested in supporting artists without the pretentious gallery experience. The gallerist is friendly, knowledgeable, willing to discuss and educate and assist, and has... More

Although this art gallery is tiny it did have some interesting art inside, including aboriginal paintings and sculptures and provided some information about the artists. Can get a bit claustrophobic if too many people in there, but worth a visit.

I walked into the gallery to shelter from the rain, but soon became absorbed by the wonderful paintings by Aboriginal artists on display, as well as some other unusual artefacts. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, and their patience was rewarded when I purchased a painting after viewing it 3 times

This is a relatively small gallery set in various rooms on different floors. The mainly glass art is well lit and the staff are knowledgeable about the various artists' work. The gallery is in a very central location and we have bought many pieces over the years. They also offer a reliable postal service to overseas customers, and our purchases... More

This little gallery, is FREE and a little gem of a place. Gives great history on Early settlement of Sydney and also ties in the relationship with indigenious people. The fella behind the counter is really down to earth and genuine. Great little diversion. Thanks for the insight.

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
