The area
Address
Neighbourhood: The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.

This free tourist information centre is located in the heart of The Rocks, on Argyle Path, about 5 minutes from the ferries and trains at Circular Quay.
I’d highly recommend starting here if you are planning on exploring The Rocks.
They have a huge supply of free maps and brochures and you can book tours here too.
I was here mid-week and even though there are very few tourists around at the moment, there was still a short queue at the counter. However you can browse the maps and brochures on your own, which is what I did.
It’s not restricted to just information on Sydney. I was able to pick up several guides to exploring the Eurobodalla coastline as well.
Just around the corner you’ll also find a small museum called The Rocks Discovery Centre. It’s free and was well worth a visit.

We paid a brief visit to the Sydney Visitor Centre, in the heart of The Rocks area. We were not particularly looking for any information, but rather went in just to have a look. There is lots of information around and the staff seemed quite friendly as we observed from a distance. Next time we need help about Sydney sightseeing we will know where to turn to.

I was seeking for something to do for my last evening in Sydney and I thought why not pay a visit to The Rock? However I have no single idea what to seek out. Fortunately I know about this Free Tour from Sydney Visitor Information Centre that there will be routine FREE bring around tour by volunteer. The experience was marvellous as she have bought the group of people and we have benefit ourselves with many interesting stories and comes around of The Rock-Sydney. Volunteer was helpful and tip-sing is not necessary unless you think it is what worth you gained from it.

We had a walk through the mall and went into the visitor centre. We had booked a trip from Sydney to Cairns by motorhome, but we didn’t sort out what we really wanted to see along the way.
The employee of the visitor centre had great ideas and made an itenerary for us. He even helped us booking tours to Fraser Island and Whitsundays and gave us advice which boattours are nice at Whitsundays. It helped us a lot for planning our Holiday!

On our way to "The Rocks" shopping market area, we happened upon this info office and popped in for a look-see and maybe pick up a souvenir or two. They have nice stuff! We walked out, heavily fortified with maps and a really super-dooper "Sydney" T-shirt purchase.

We are mega-big fans of each and every info/tourist office we ever see, anywhere, ever. Us newbies can never have enough info!

Couldn't fault the fantastic service offered by Sydney visitor centre. We hopped off the cruise ship and walked 5min up the road and dropped our suitcases for storage for the day ($10per case) and stated the time we would pick them up. Upon our return at the stated time our cases were there and help was given on the easiest way to get to the international airport.
Highly recommend using this service.

We thought we'd save time by booking our Blue Mountains Hop-On-Hop-Off bus and Scenic World tickets @ The Rocks visitor centre, Sydney before going. We read on the brochure that you can get the Lyrebird offer for both of these. But it actually works out slightly cheaper to buy these tickets separately doing the Earlybird Scenic World offer as long as you're staying in Katoomba (which we were), the first bus leaves there at 9am which gets you to Scenic World before 9.30am. She told us it was impossible for us to do that, that the bus would get us there after 10am. So, on her information we bought the Lyrebird pass.
They also don't issue you with the Scenic World wristband just a print out voucher you have to give the Hop-On-Hop-Off bus driver in exchange for the wristband. This information was never conveyed to us and apparently, from the frustration of Jimmy the bus driver and plenty of Scenic World staff, this happens on a regular basis. Having made the 9am bus from Katoomba, hoping to beat some of the school holiday crowds, we had to wait for Jimmy to return before getting our wristbands wasting precious, valuable holiday time. By then the place was really busy!! Confusingly for everyone, the visitor centre does issue the bus ticket but as you can purchase this at any time the driver has no indication that you've also purchased Scenic World. Jimmy even phoned to complain to them too as this is a regular occurrence but they weren't bothered. I really wished we hadn't used the middle-man and booked directly on arrival at the Blue Mountains. The woman who sold it us was serving 4 other people at the same time. If she only served one at a time or if there were more staff working (she was the only one) they might take the time to give better customer service and correct information.

Sincere apologies for the delay in responding to you, unfortunately we've had some long-term problems with our listing that have just been resolved. Although we can only now respond, please be assured we were aware of this occurrence and it was addressed shortly after. We have since reviewed the process of ticketing with BM Explorer Bus to ensure it does not continue to cause confusion. We have also re-trained our team on the BM Explorer Bus experiences to ensure they are fully aware of the options for all travelers' situations. We hope you otherwise enjoyed you stay in Sydney and the Blue Mountatins!

We booked the Blue mountains explorer bus + Scenic world entry at the Rocks centre in anticipation of saving time when we arrive amongst the tourist throng of Katoomba.
They gave us the Bus ticket but didn't explain we needed to get a wristband from the bus driver to enter scenic world. We got up especially early to get the 1st bus of the day and get to the rides early, only to be told we weren;t allowed in with the voucher they dispensed.
The net result was a precious hour of our holiday wasted whilst we waited for the next bus and the aforementioned wristband. Our bus driver (Jimmy) was very apologetic, evern though it wasn't his fault and the lady at scenic world also explained that this happens regularly.
I don't understand why they issue half of the required tickets after paying them approx 80 dollars. It's confusing, unclear, and ultimately cost us valuable time on holiday - it would have been quicker to simply buy our tickets at scenic world on arrival in the morning.
Either provide the whole ticket or none.
