Good to have some green space in the centre of the city, but not much more than grass and trees. Perhaps because of the time of year there was not much flowering. Also statues and the ANZAC memorial to see.

Absolutely beautiful scenery with the War memorial, fountain and views of St Mary's Cathedral. Loved listening to the buskers at th fountain, only downside the young not so good skate boarders practicing their moves in front of the war memorial not giving a damn about people trying to take in the serenity or beauty of this place.

We hit Hyde Park on a beautiful day after lots of walking around Sydney. The park was a nice shady respite from the mid-day heat. There are lots of benches, with lots of foliage and birds (sacred ibis, magpies). Good people-watching spot from a bench near the Archibald Fountain, accompanied by pleasant music from a guitarist promoting his CDs. The... More

Upon arriving in Sydney for an extended visit, I rented an apartment overlooking Hyde Park. for several months I have enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking the Park, watching people below. The Park hosts big events like the annual LGBTQ Mardi Gras and a huge Anzac Day event, but most days the Park is serene and peaceful. There are lots... More

We love having lunch on the grass on sunny days, it gets very popular with locals and tourists, catching the rays, in a peaceful environment. However, our favourite spot within the park, is Sandringham Gardens, a beautiful space, with a lovely view to the cathedral, with seating, shade and terraced flowerbeds surround the fountain, a perfect sanctuary from the hustle... Highly recommend watching the big chess game during the day, even get involved, walk through the greenery, have a picnic, etc.

Visited the Anzac Memorial ahead of Anzac Day....a very moving building. Walked through the park, almost in the heart of the city, with lovely shaded areas with attractive features, such as sculptures and a fountain.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
The Sydney Central Business District is abuzz with energy. Power brokers run to and from high rise buildings and after-work drink places, high-end shoppers tour venues like the QVB, and fine diners frequent the many celebrity chef restaurants. For a dose of culture, walk to the NSW Art Gallery, or visit the Sydney Museum. To escape the hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature at the Sydney Botanical Gardens or picnic lunch at High Park. No matter your interest, be sure to check the full calendar of events hosted by the city, from the Sydney Festival in January to October’s Good Food Month at Hyde Park.
