While it still gets busy the walk from south of Coogee towards Maroubra is as pleasant as any and not as crowded as further North ! On this section you can be close to the ocean and past Lurline Bay walk on the rock shelf but just be aware of big swells & rough conditions.Plenty of spots/seats to break up... More

We walked from Coogee Beach south to Maroubra, but you can do it in the other direction too, and buses to and from both beaches get you back into the city. It took us about an hour of brisk walking, but we took quite a few 'photo-stops' and some detours down onto the rocks for a look. At least three... More

We went early in the morning so it was cool (would get hot in the middle of the day). There are nice views of the coast and out to sea. There were lots of people but this is to be expected in Sydney.

This is my daily walk, sometimes twice a day. So fortunate to have this at my doorstep and there are many things to see from passing pods of whales, dolphins. No two walks are the same as the sea is always changing. Yes lifeguards are on duty all year round at Coogee beach, offering surf rescue and first aid. Make... More

A great walk that is popular with joggers, dog walkers and families. A bit unfortunate that it ceases to exist after lurline bay and lacks a few signs around this area. It would be wise to bring a map of you want to continue all the way to Marubra from Coogee.

Walking on the Coogee to Lurline Bay Coastal Walk is a nightmare as you need to watch where you are stepping all the way and you cant enjoy the spectacle of the migrating whales and occasional seals and penguins close to the shore line. But if you enjoy the breathtaking aroma of salt spray tinted dog poo or get the... More

Staying in Coogee

Neighbourhood Profile
Very accessible by public transport, Coogee is the smaller, friendlier, more intimate version of Bondi Beach. Coogee is the only beach in the Eastern suburbs that does not have big waves, making it an excellent family beach. The Coogee Bay Hotel, located right across the beach, has one of the biggest beer gardens in Australia and plenty of entertainment every night of the week. Be on the lookout for celebrity footballers! A little further south is Wylie’s Baths, offering sweeping 180 degree views over the Pacific Ocean, and it is perfect for a swim or a few laps. Plenty of dining choices surround the beach, including the famous fish and chips.
