- Robert D4,257 contributionsMeet the Reptiles of the Northern TerritoryThe Alice Springs Reptile Centre is a great place to visit. You can see many reptiles including Thorny Devils, Central Bearded Dragons, and lots of snakes. Meet Australia's largest lizard, the Perentie, and see a Saltwater Crocodile. I recommend seeing the presentations held throughout the day. You can hold one of the reptiles for a great photo opportunity.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten November 3, 2023

A very informative, but also humorous, talk about snakes and reptiles by the owner surprised many of us. Snakes, thorny devils, goannas, and the star of the show, Terry the Crocodile can all be seen here. Great place for all ages.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten November 5, 2023

This place - along with the Desert Park and Standley Chasm, the Jumping Crocs (Humpty Doo) and Katherine Gorge, really give you a true "feel" for the heart of Oz. We also loved the Telegraph Station. It is such a beautiful world and being up close and "personal" with these creatures is really fun. My wife loves the Horny Devil (Thorny) Lizard and we always smile when we think of them. It is a place you need to see and not very expensive when compared to most things. Staff very good.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten August 14, 2024

Our child had an awesome time visiting The Reptile Centre. Lauren was professional and informative in the interactive session whilst we met an Olive Python (non venomous), Blue Tongue Lizard and the Bearded Dragon. The displays were very well kept and the outdoor enclosures were kept in great condition, some even better then capital city Zoos. Each display had informative placards which were also kept in great condition despite harsh Alice Springs weather. The place is definitely run with a lot of pride. Well done.

We spend an informative and enjoyable couple of hours at this privately run centre. The owner is clearly passionate about the animals he looks after and his young Brazilian offsider did a great presentation as she helped us hold a python and a lizard. There was a great collection of different animals, inside and outside.

Everyone must visit this reptile park. It is so well set out. Loved all the animals and the stories that are told on what these animals all are. The bird show was so good to see what these birds can do.

We were disappointed at the lack of reptiles on display. Very small centre ans expensive for what is available on show, which is not much. Outside a few exhibits had been moved inside due to heat so there was not much to see outside. Inside again was very limited in what was able to be seen. We totally support reptile centres such as this where people can view them in their natural habitat, but this one was sadly lacking, Staff were friendly and no issues there

This was a bit of a pleasant surprise to us and we enjoyed walking around the many exhibits they had. We joined in with the demonstration at 11.00am and found the zoo keeper to have lots of knowledge about her subject and we had the chance to hold some of the reptiles or pat them as they passed us by. We learnt a lot taking part in this demonstration.

Jess was the guide who took us around the centre, we were in a group tour called A Town Called Alice, a half day tour of the town of Alice Springs.
It was great and Jess was fantastic. My fav animal was the Thorny Devil, the cutest thing ever!
Truly a good experience, not to be missed for kids as well as adults.

Doesn't look big from the outside - but they can certainly pacl in the animals and information. Pleanty of local reptiles as well as an outside are with larger goannas etc and the famous Terry the crcodile. Call the centre ahead to find out when he's being fed - the talk and feeding was great. They only feed him once a week in summer and less in winter, so be sure and check - was the highlight of our kids visit. Also has an underwater viewing area for Terry. Gifts and cold drink are available and there are frequent talks presented by the staff with an opportunity to hold a lizard or snake. Check the website for timings.

This place is definitely worth a visit but only requires an hour of your time for the amount of animals and this included two talks. Definitely time it for the talks. Also needed to book despite a lack of tourists at the moment. A little pricey and disappointing that they only open one day a week at the moment....

Thank you for your review Clare, we are a small centre but we do pride ourselves on our wonderful educational talks and hands on experience with the reptiles which you can't get anywhere else in Alice Springs, and we are so glad you enjoyed these talks. Thank you for cooperating with our new booking system as well, it is a new rule that we have for the current pandemic situation to protect our visitors and our staff, it is a way that we can regulate how many people are in the building at any one time as per Government health restrictions. We are only open Saturdays, as sadly Alice Springs is a bit of a Ghost town during the summer months and the lack of tourism has impacted our business greatly, therefore 1 day a week is affordable at this stage; we will be changing this of course as the country opens up and allows more interstate travel.
Thank you again for the review, we hope you revisit once the centre reopens 7 days a week with all of our upgrades completed.

We did this tour as part of the “A Town Like Alice” tour. The overall layout was good but did seem a little dated. We waited for a guide due to a staff mix up & the tour seemed a bit rushed. There is a good collection of snakes, lizards, etc. It is worth a visit.

was lucky enough to experience this place via a live Twitch stream courtesy of ol' mate Shook (Jesse).. The guide (Jess) was extremely knowledgeable and informative.
Rex and his antics with the croc were especially hilarious...will definitely be booking a trip to Alice when the travel restrictions ease...well done Shook, and really well done to you all at the Reptile Park.
