This is a prison with history and a fascinating exhibition about pioneering women in Australia. You realise what a male dominated society this has been until... well, this century! Go whether you are a feminist, a male chauvinist or just interested in prisons!

worth the while to come and see what is actually at the National Pioneer Women's Hall of Fame....not only about the pioneering women but also history about our early jails....and don't forget to look at the art works.

Fantastic history of Australian women. Easy to read and really interesting. Well presented (and the room is air conditioned ... while you look you can keep cool 😜). The history of the prison (where it is located) is great. And the art work from the current inmates of the current gaol is amazing. The furniture and sculptures. Pity it wouldn't... More

Was really surprised by this because it includes women from all over Australia, not just the Central Australian region. I love the double history of the Hall of Fame being housed in the old Alice Springs Gaol. I grew up in Alice, but learned so much about many of the characters I knew or had heard about, and what life... More

Hubby and I visited here a few months ago. Each of the buildings have stories and displays. Was very interesting and diverse. Easy to wander around and take in the stories

I thoroughly enjoyed this display. In awe of the women that have come before us. They endured such harsh conditions and hardships we can only imagine. Strong women that achieved so much against the odds. Thank you for sharing a little bit of their lives with us. This is the real Australia.

This is a really interesting display. A Women's museum, set up in the old gaol, so you are really getting two experiences for the price of one. The jail was extremely interesting, especially the video in the women's dorms. Highly recommend when in Alice Springs.

Interesting record of the achievements of Australian. I found it quite incomplete, with a heavy emphasis on NT women. Needs a bit of national collaboration. Photograph exhibition and stories of rural pioneer women particularly interesting to me. Also a brief visit to male and female old gaols worth making.

Entry for 2 adults $20 and well worth it. We spent 3 hours here but could easily have spent another hour. There was so much to read about the wonderful women of Australia with so many 'firsts' of these truly pioneering human beings. The layout was good and easy to get around with no problems for wheelchair access. Plenty of... More

We could not believe how interesting this was. It is attached to the old women's prison - the movie in the prison is extremely enlightening. One can easily spend many hours at this venue. My husband thought it would be exclusively for women but he also thoroughly enjoyed it. I would recommend it as a must-see for visitors to Alice... More
