A rail journey back in time

A museum full of Ghan rail history. Fascinating to learn about the building of the rail for the Ghan and the improvements made over time.

What a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours getting lost in the wonderful history of the Ghan...from the pioneers exploring our vast country to the brave cameleers opening up the country for us to visit all these years later...well worth the $12.50 entry fee...Lots of photo opportunities...

I went there not knowing what to expect.(I used to work on the Ghan, both old and new).Had excellent displays and brought back many memories. There is even a miniature railway for the kids and the old kids that goes around the whole complex. All in all - great.

We had travelled to The Alice on the new Ghan, so it was interesting to see the old. My "train nerd" son was disappointed that there was not more of the engine open to view, but we were interested in the museum pieces and the carriages. Great souviners

The history of trains to and from Alice Springs is an interesting one and a very important means of early transportation. Can spend a lot of time looking through this museum.
