Yesterday my husband and I had the fun of babysitting our 5 and 6 year old grandchildren and we wanted to take them somewhere they have never been. We decided to go to Walkabout creek. They have a ranger and do two lectures one morning and one afternoon. It was on yesterday, Sunday but it would be worth phoning and... More

Walkabout creek is stunning. Beautiful nature walks to go on, lots to see, and a lovely swimming hole there to cool off in. We got married there and the wedding was absolutely stunning, the backdrop was amazing and could not recommend Walkabout creek enough for everything, from weddings, to nature walks, to picnics, swimming, and everything in between!

Great way to get close to the nature. We hike about 10 km along the lake and encountered two lace monitors!!! They were huge and amazing!!! Perfect place for a day hike and a picnic in a hot summer day. They also have a small cafe next to the visitor center.

This is a great place to visit although parking is severely limited. We parked well up the road at the bus stop park and ride and walked through the shortcut just up the road. The wildlife centre which you pay to visit had some great animals but I loved seeing the platypus. There's a cafe and the coffee was great.... More

I just had a great 10km walk around the reservoir. Hardly anyone on the track so it really does give you a chance to get back to nature. Note there are no ammenities on the trails. And Brisbane is humid. Take a camel pack (frozen the night. Emote) to ensure you can keep well hydrated on the walk. My only... More

We are so lucky to live within walking distance from Enoggera Reservoir. Surrounded by the bush, the reservior provides a cool retreat from the summer heat. The main entrance - known as "The Beach side" - is along a short track via Walkabout Creek Visitor Centre there are other less known and tracked entrances along the opposite side too. The... More

Walkabout Creek is a fabulous place to take small children. Lots of animals in the wildlife centre and a very reasonable admission fee, platypus and sugar glider feeding and helpful, knowledgeable staff make for a great day out. The distances are not huge so no problem for miss 2 and master 5. On a hot day you can take a... More

I love Walkabout Creek, Recently it has seen some improvements and I love now that Enoggera reservoir is open to swimming and kayaking, there is a lovely lake walk and during the week it is very peaceful and quiet. But it is a great place to take kids and if you have never seen a platypus in the wild, this... More

Not too expensive and lots of native animals. Staff are great and good easy walks for young children. There are also picnic spots and a nice cafe too.
