We got off the ferry and the museum was just a short walk. The Diamantina frigate (river class) was the star of the show. She is the only one left out of 135 built. We had the audio guides but we met Mike one of the volunteers and he showed us through this interesting ship. Those sailors had it tougher... More

We had the audio tours and were finding it difficult to follow the numbers due to the vessel being repainted and having no-go areas. We met in with a volunteer who then took over our tour and gave us a lot of information on how it was to sail on the HMAS Diamante. It was a very interesting museum and... More

If you are not into boats then do not let this museum steer you away! There is more than just boats on display so def worth a look-see. Kids and adults will see what it was like to sail our oceans many years ago and then do take a walk over the ship as it is quite interesting and if... More

We spent about five hours being shown around the Museum by Jim, one of the many dedicated volunteers who devotes much time there on a weekly basis. My husband loves to visit Maritime Museums and me less so, but the nature of this wonderful facility allows for those, like me, to enjoy the many visual, hands on displays that are... More

Interesting to visit, although, sadly, as is with a lot of museums, some outdoor exhibits are 'a bit sad'

Looks like a small museum but there really is plenty to see. The hokey pokey nature, with old industrial equipment scattered here, there and everywhere adds to the character, with plenty of freedom to look and explore. Any fellow engineer will enjoy this visit. 16 dollars for a good two and a half hour visit is money well spent and... More

Although quite a bit smaller than Sydney's the characters at the museum as well as the exhibits were very interesting. In/out privileges allowed us to scoot with the rain and come back later. It had enough to occupy a couple of hours.

Very good and awesome that you can go down into the dry dock now. Seems like some work needs to be done on the inside now. There some great stuff in there but it's not being used to its full potential.

Well presented and very informative this museum, the history just oozed out of the exhibits, to be able to wander around an actual wartime ship which showed how hard life was even in the 1940s aboard a ship of the fleet, so wonderful to come close to the history associated with Australia's navel past , the layout, condition of the museum... The Museum is easily accessed from the South bank Cityhopper stop. The gallery exhibits are interesting. A visit to the ships can be challenging to the not so mobile of us. The volunteers are enthusiastic and friendly.
