Visited in the height of summer but gardens were still extremely well maintained and in very good condition. Access and parking is easy (although you can catch a bus if keen). The gardens are well sign posted with mostly accessible paths. The area has a cafe with reasonable quality food at a reasonable price. It is also co-located with Rockhampton... More

During our visit to Rockhampton my son and I had a scrumptious breakfast at the Gardens Tearooms, what a great atmosphere friendly staff, quality food, my coffee was spot on too! After breaky we went for a stroll down to the lagoon, my son enjoyed spotting the turtles bobbing their heads up and down in the water, watch out for... More

It is a really good place for kids and parents to celebrate bdays as there are lots of swings and slides in the sand pit to keep the children busy The bbqs give you the option of cooking fresh food at the gardens itself

Love the Botanic Gardens it's a must for anyone to visit and definitely the place to go if you have children. The zoo was fantastic with considering it's free, it is a small zoo but the is a range of animals and the first time I have seen a Cassowary. The Gardens are lovely and well spread out so if... Rockhampton Botanic Gardens is free..It has an excellent free zoo,The zoo keepers were very keen to explain:))) Great place to visit for kids and family.

Poorly maintained. Ibis have taken over the once beautiful and majestic grounds. Council has taken what the very early pioneer mayors grand scheme "for the people and their leisure" for granted. It seems sad to make "special "animals a show stopper. It has lost the simple family happiness of seeing fewer animals and making playground equipment and amenities top priority.... More
