Really interesting place to visit. Unbelievable how it controls the temperature and got some really neat photos looking up the ventilation shafts

Quiet and peaceful with the room in the shape of a cross. Obviously used for services regularly which is good.

One of the few underground churches, close to center of town & easily accessible. Free to enter, but a gold coin donation is welcomed & is worth it. We had a temporary volunteer resident who showed us the living quarters also.

Amazing church that is underground. Well worth a visit. It's open to visitors at any time. No need to go for the service. We visited just after the rain so had to take our shoes off which is understandable. It's a small church but worth a visit.

The church building is in a cross shape and has been dug into the rock. The cross is from local wood and the altar is an old winch! The attraction is free. There are donations that you can make towards their current fundraising.

Made to feel very welcome. Underground church carved out in the shape of the cross. We were welcome to take photos and the lady in the church was both helpful and pleasant.

Follow the instructions to turn on the lights and this little Anglican church is a real surprise. It's rustic and quaint. The reuse of mining tools for the alter is very clever. Sit and reflect.

When we visited the catacombs, the two ladies did a great job explaining the history of the place. Worth a visit and another spot to stop and wonder at the underground buildings of Coober Pedy. Enjoyed a visit to the Catholic Church as well- no tour guide there, but building a little better than catacombs.

We were lucky enough to encounter Pastor Geoff who - without pressure or preaching - gently reinforced the Anglican ethos. He took some photos which ensures this part of our trip will be especially remembered - photos of the two of us and his beautiful church. I was really sorry not to be here for a service.

The Catacomb Church is an Anglican church which has been carved out the hill like many of the homes and residences in Coober Pedy. It is simple, just like one would expect of the Catacomb's of years gone by. The minister happened to be home (which is attached to the church) and he came in and gave us some history... More
