Fun 3 hour hike

Just missed out on the ski season, so instead we went hiking west of the ski field and came across and old alpine lodge and saw plenty of wallabies and 3 wombats!

Staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly! If you dont have a car acceptable to take up the mountain they pick you up and take you back down for a small cost. The ski fields arent massive but they are still huge and covered in snow. They have lessons available for first timers! There is a small cafe available, food is great... More

For all ski enthusiasts! If you love the snow and want that new experience, then try this small ski resort. There are no frills but definitately snow. The ski field is bigger than we expected but less than we are used to... There was adequate snow cover but it was very icy and hard. On the day we cane to... More

On our way to Hobart from Devonport we stopped in at Ben Lomond to play in snow for the first time. The trip up the mountain was beautiful until Jacobs Ladder where due to the fog it got pretty scary (was still pretty). We got to the top and hired skis, strapped them on outside and promptly fell over which... More

This is a great little spot on Launceston's doorstep. It was great place for our daughter to experience snow for the first time. There certainly wasn't a lot of it and it was pretty hard rather than powdery but we had fun all the same. We parked in the car park and got the shuttle up ($50 for a family).... More

We stayed at Rovers and loved the experience.Apparently, this is the only dorm style accommodation with ensuite bathroom ! They have a lovely lounge area. The kitchen is huge and has all the utensils you can imagine. Terrina was terrific. She was kind enough to share few things from the pantry as we missed buying them. The sports center is... More

If you've ever been to a 'real' snow resort then you'll probably be disappointed here. Don't get me wrong, it's not terrible, but bear in mind that the snow is more thin ice, but if like us you used the day to show your kids the snow then it's definitely worth the hours drive out of Launceston. FYI the pub... More

Visited Ben Lomond for the first time while on holiday in Tasmania during winter & all I can say is..Incredible! We were very lucky that Tasmania & the rest of Australia had a very cold snap & snow fall during July & what a winter wonderland. Ben Lomond was covered in snow, beautiful white mountains everywhere. Had a great time... More

Ben Lomond is an incredible place spend a day or two in winter. We spent two days exploring and skiing which was simply incredible. They have a very convenient pub, cafe and ski/snowboard hire as well as a ski school. Even better they have a shuttle bus if you don't think your car will make it to the top! Ben... More

Visiting Ben Lomond in any season is a must! We drove up on a clear March day and it was the most amazing sight - the landscape is like nothing I have ever seen - barren and rocky - hard to imagine it with a covering of snow, which I imagine is absolutely beautiful. The resort is unique, and the... More
