Only half an hour from Hobart is the Tinderbox Marine Reserve: a colourful world of marine invertebrates and giant string kelp, a plant that can grow a metre a week. Underwater Adventures Tasmania provides you with an opportunity to explore this extraordinary and unique underwater world year-round, whether you're an experienced scuba diver or beginner snorkeller. We also visit the rainforests of the sea - the kelp forests on the outside of Bruny Island, as well as a range of other dive sites in SE Tasmania. Your boat for the day is a 10m Powercat with cabin, flybridge and all facilities for your comfort: hot and cold running water, toilet, hand-shower, stove and fridge. We depart from the Hobart waterfront, so you don't have to spend time or money travelling to a dive centre and you get to relax and enjoy the scenic trip down the Derwent River to the dive site. All scuba and snorkelling gear, including warm wetsuits, is available for hire and we load it onto the boat in advance for you. We carry charts and guidebooks on board for those who're keen to know where they're going and what they're looking at, and we provide refreshments using local seasonal produce.

We dived the Giant Kelp Forests on 26 January (Australia Day) through Underwater Dive Adventures. We had trouble (three months before hand) trying to find a dive operator who would guarantee diving the forests (weather permitting) and/or wasn’t more interested in having their day off or wasn’t already fully booked, until we found out about Sue. On the day she... More

Recently my partner and i did 2 days of diving with Sue Wragg who runs Underwater Adventures. What can i say other than how fantastic the experience was. Sue runs a highly professional service that i would recommend to any one who dives or snorkels. Not only was the diving wonderful at Bruny Island and Tinderbox amongst giant kelp forests... More

While touring Tasmania with visiting family just before Christmas 2012, we realised we had an opportunity to dive the next day while others visited the Salamanca markets. We rang Sue that night from the hotel and all was set up for early the following morning. Sue picked us up by boat from the Hobart waterfront, we were taken out to... More

A really great day diving at Tinderbox. Sue is a really good guide: informative, helpful & patient. Hire equipment in excellent condition. The boat is comfortable and the underwater sights are amazing. Great value for money.

Thanks for the feedback - I'm glad you had a great day. Tinderbox is indeed an amazing place, and the colour and range of marine life usually surprises people. And I'm pleased you were happy with the gear and boat: diver comfort and safety's important for the obvious reasons as well as helping you to get the most out of... More

We spent a day diving at the Tinderbox Marine Reserve with Underwater Adventures, and loved it! I have dived all over Malaysia and in several spots on the Great Barrier Reef, and UA's dive master Sue ranks as one of the best I have ever had the pleasure to dive with. The preparations for the dives were very thorough, and... More

Thanks so much for that feedback. I'm pleased you loved Tinderbox Marine Reserve. It's my favourite place to dive because of the wide range of marine life, and I really enjoy sharing it with visiting divers. And it's a treat having it so close to Hobart! More
