The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is Australia's second-oldest established in 1818. These gardens are home to the largest collection of mature conifers in the Southern Hemisphere and it also has the only subantarctic plant house in the world. A great restaurant and cafe is available onsite and it is a wonderful place to visit all year round. Visit our website for more information.

What a pleasant way to spend some quiet time in the city with nature. Good stroll and the garden is starting to bloom the early spring flowers. If you are lucky, you may get some friendly park visitors!

Took the hop on hop off bus to the gardens. Had lunch in the restaurant (delicious pappardelle with seafood) then strolled around the gardens. Obviously a popular place with locals and tourists alike. The orchid house contained the most beautiful orchids

The botanical gardens are probably hugely important but for an ignorant layman like me they are pleasant to walk around and quite interesting. Some lovely flowers and lots of birds including blue fairy wrens.

Loved just wandering through the lovely gardens and exhibits. Had coffee and cake at the restaurant. Delicious. Great to see all the mature plantings, got some good ideas for our garden.

Was a lovely afternoon to spend at the gardens with a gorgeous bay view. A great edible garden that was incredible, and gorgeous flowers and trees everywhere. Ultimate peaceful experience.

Food not as good as I had expected, the fish was over cooked and dry so was my partner’s. Probably will not go again.

Some of the garden's 'rooms' aren't really season dependent - the sub-arctic, for instance, is always cold! Others have variations of foliage which make them interesting in the cooler months - the Japanese garden has... More
