Beautiful old Cathedral with magnificent stained glass windows. If you are lucky enough to be visiting, or walking past when the bells are rung, you are in for a treat!

Located in the center of Hobart, this historical church is definitely worth a visit. Beautiful stained glass windows, historical plaques, and a museum of historical church stones from across the world make this an interesting place to visit.

Visited the beautiful St David's Anglican Cathedral with its distinctive square tower. Foundation stone was laid in 1868, consecrated in 1874, and completed in 1936. Gothic revival style with beautiful wooden ceiling and stained glass windows. I was most impressed by the exquisite wooden pulpit and intricately carved wooden rood screen which dominates the sanctuary. Worth visiting.

We attended morning service here while in Hobart. The building is lovely and the people friendly. Choir was absent, sadly, but the organ and singing by the congregation was great. The Dean preached and we very much appreciated his sermon.

Magical. Enjoyed the peace and quiet as we slowly made our way around the church viewing all the stained glass windows.

Sitting in the wonderful structure adorned with old and modern stained glass windows, beautifully and finely carved wood abounds, listening to the choir rehearse as well as the bells ringing.
A wonderful calm falls over one.

This magnificent building is located on the corner of Macquarie and Murray Streets and, luckily for me, was open to the public on the morning that I visited. It dates to 1868, the foundation stone laid by Prince Alfred, the Duke of Edinburgh. Further additions were made after 1874, culminating in the completion of the bell-tower in 1936. It is the 2nd oldest Anglican Cathedral in Australia. The architecture is a striking example of the Gothic Revival style. The beauty of the stained glass windows can only be really appreciated when viewed from the interior and they depict saints, knights, kings and biblical figures. Various commemorative plaques are affixed to the walls. The small museum displays artefacts recovered from earlier restorations, vestments, etc. Happy that I visited and recommended to any visitor to Hobart.

St David's Cathedral is the seat of the Anglican bishop of Tasmania. The neo-Gothic church is one of the best examples of this style in Australia. Land for the cathedral was granted to the Anglican Church in 1862. Construction commenced in 1868 and was completed in 1936. The church was consecrated in 1894. St David's is a magnificent church, it is one of Hobart's most popular tourist destinations.

Friendly people. The cathedral was getting ready for an annual flower show. The building is lovely with wooden beams and the stained glass windows. An interesting area in the cathedral contains stone pieces from other cathedrals particularly from England with explanations. worth a visit
