Day TWELVE of my trip from Perth to Melbourne and on my way back. I decided to go from Melbourne to Adelaide via the Great Ocean Road and wasn't disappointed. Once I got used to the constant coastal bends (the exact opposite of most of the rest of my drive) I found it excellent and stops at places like Lorne... More

Had a day to spare on our recent holiday around Australia so we hired a car from Tullamarine and ventured toward the Great Ocean Rd. Eventually left the freeway and joined onto the coast road, was not expecting the multitude of crazy, incompetent, uncaring drivers on this stretch of road. Countless cars and motorbikes crossing double lines to overtake and... More

We drove from Torquay so that we were on the coastal side of the road as opposed to the other direction where we would have been looking across the oncoming traffic to the coast. We didn't book hotels ahead but found there were plenty of decent places to stay wherever we chose to stop.

There's no doubt about it driving along the Great Ocean Road is on many people's bucket list and if it isn't it should be! A true Australian landmark of natural beauty. Lots of lovely towns to visit and break up your trip with special mentions to Torquay, Apollo Bay and of course Port Campbell. If you can swing it I... More

Beautiful highway but the entire coast is COVERED in flies. Every time you step out of the car you'll end up with 20 to 30 flies on your back and buzzing in your face and it made camping and anything else outdoors petty subpar until after nightfall. Scenic but pretty average and nowhere near as enchanting as the Pacific Coast... More

traveling the great ocean road from Angelsea through to Port Fairy was amazing! I highly recommend it! Everything from sand beaches to rocky cliffs, it has to be seen to be believed. Lots of wildlife along the various sights.

I did the drive in one day from Melbourne and it's quite a drive, but very do-able in one day. Leave early! Did not go on a guided tour because of the limited timeschedule; I wanted to take it all in on my own pace. Do mind, it is not an easy drive, the roads are pretty rough sometimes. Never... More

We started and ended our day in Warrnambool, driving East along the road. The drive is initially easy and straight, but quickly gets windy. We stopped at pretty much every viewing point along the way, as the sights are spectacular. Favourites were Loch Ard Gorge and London Bridge. (Even though it has fallen down.) We went as far as Lorne,... More

Took a guided tour from Melbourne for this entire day trip. The 12 apostles (8 really) are majestic. The journey from Melbourne takes you through Angelsea, Lorne and Apollo Bay- all small and beautiful towns. Can stop at the Otway National Park, Memorial Arch and other such natural landmarks on the way. Memorable experience this.

It is an absolutely amazing place to go if you like a nice ocean view. I have never seen something similar and was very impressed by how the sea forma the land. If you're traveling through Victoria it definitely has to be on your to do list.
