The Windsor Railway Station Complex includes station buildings and a footbridge. It was constructed in 1885-86 of polychromatic brick, and features paired round arched windows, a truncated hip roof, eaves consoles and prominent chimney stacks. A capped brick wall and a footbridge supported on cast iron columns with decorative brackets are also part of this substantial railway complex.

Windsor Station is on the suburban Sandringham Line. The station, on the city side, is a survivor of the times when people took pride in their railways. Windsor is now gentrified, it was once an industrial area,, like nearby South Yarra. The station is built...More

The location is good with a short walk to tram stops in Chapel Street and to Dandenong Road. The architecture is historic, but behind the facade much has deteriorated. Station services are not good with waiting rooms and toilets closed to travelers.

The buildings are an excellent example of 19th century rail architecture and easily accessed by ramps thus avoiding stairs. The station is just off both Chapel Street and Dandenong Road and the train to the city is much faster than taking a tram.

By Australian standards this is an old railway station. It opened in 1859. It is on the Victorian Heritage Register and is recognised as having historical-cultural significance. If you're near the station why not try using it? Trams along Chapel Street can be annoyingly slow...More

Have eaten here many times. This is our local for taking family and friends out for dinner. Eating out on the deck is best. Food is cheap, fast and full of flavour. Highly recommend it for sharing a meal with groups.

Unless you're going to Chapel Street, and getting off at Windsor station, there's no point going here. There are a number of stations along the Sandringham line that have heritage value (and it's not the only line that does). I wouldn't say it's a tourist...More

Unless you're a fan of late 19th century public architecture do not make a special trip to Windsor. If you are, you'll recognise it's quite a handsome example and worth conserving. It can only become more valuable to our community as other heritage stations are...More
