We spent a half day at the Melbourne Zoo in November and it was a great time! The butterfly house was amazing, the gorillas were particularly active the day we were there, the orangutans were fun to see and the elephants were excellent too. Honestly we enjoyed our entire time there and loved seeing all the animals, I couldn’t pick... More

Great day out at Melbourne Zoo with a toddler. It's quite a large park so a lot of walking... make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Plenty of places to stop and pull out a picnic lunch. Could probably comfortably explore in five hours. A must for locals and international visitors.

It's a nice place to spend the day between nature, animals and relax. There are a lot of interesting animals to watch, admire and from all the world. Sometimes they show you when they are feeding some of them and that's a unique experience (at least it was for me and my son). Highly recommended at least once

We made a last minute day trip here on our last day in Melbourne. It's a really big place with lots to see and do. My favourite is the elephants and tigers and the butterfly house is so pretty. Glad we stopped by we also bought so much merchandise. It's well kept and looked after and the animals look so... More

You really can't go wrong with Melbourne zoo, there's so much to see that one day is never really enough. The butterfly house is always a huge hit with my little kids. Meerkats are fun to watch too. Pack a lunch to save some money and have a picnic on the grass. Even better get a zoo membership which you... More

We arranged an afternoon tea at the Zoo and it was a fun afternoon. Greeted with a glass of bubbles and a scone, we were then invited to join the buffet. Sweet and savoury were accommodated, there wS something for everyone. Pies, sausage rolls, sandwiches, mousse, macaroons. We were not hurried out and could sit as long as we wanted.... More

It's been 10 years since I took my niece and nephew to the zoo and whilst I shared the wonder through their eyes ,this time, with an afternoon to spare, I visited solo. There are some great spaces such as the butterfly house, the elephant enclosure and the new wave pool for the seals but I'm afraid I was underwhelmed... More

We drove in to spend Father's Day as a couple, since now we don't have kids anymore we like to find somewhere special for significant days. Plenty of open air off-street car-parking on Zoo's perimeter at a reasonable all-day parking fee. The walking paths are even, paved and easy to negotiate for all folk including prams. There are good viewing... More

A nice size zoo that can be done in a day. We had a warm spring day when we went and were grateful for the shade found around some of the exhibits; thought has clearly gone into the layout. All the usual things you’d expect from a zoo e.g. animal presentations, close-up encounters, behind-the-scenes and shops. Plenty of places to... More
