Terrific show, in a wonderful theatre and if I had more time in Melbourne I would love to watch the show a second time. (The show is closing very soon before moving to Sydney.) I love how Melbourne has retained a number of its historic theatres and how they still use them today. The seating can be obscured in places... More

Fantastic show. Happy, rollicking music (believe it or not by Cyndi Lauper !). Excellent choreography, costumes and performances. Would see it again and again if we had the money and lived in Melbourne !

Fantastic show MUST SEE! Great story, amazing voices, colourful, talented cast!!! Captivated the whole show well written and exciting every minute! 'Accept someone for who they are' challenge for us all! Her Majesty theatre is truly beautiful from antique lights, comfy seating and views from Dress Circle!

Wonderful show!!!! The only thing sad about her Majesty's Theatre is there is not really any room to sit and enjoy a drink or a snack before the show. Standing room only. Small cafe/bar had some seating. but cannot cater for the amount of people wanting refreshments before performance. Also have to change your beverage container if you wish to... More

What a wonderful show this is, one of the best shows ever in Melbourne. The whole cast are just great and the audience looked every minute of the show. I would recommend anyone of all ages to go and see this show

The family gave this theatre experience A 10/10. Teenage daughters said it was their best theatre experience yet - they are harsh critics. The cast, storyline and glammer of drag queen costumes and live theatre was utterly entertaining from laughter to tears. The solo performances were amazing - Lola brought me to tears one moment and then laughter the next.... More

Toby Francis and Callum Francis (no relation....I think) were spectacular. This is a very well-appointed theatre and seems to be older; parts of it have this very "old building" smell to it, which I guess adds to its charm. It's located right next to Chinatown in Melbourne for some solid food options pre or post-show. Wouldn't recommend paying the egregious... More

The show on currently is Kinky Boots which is a terrific production and has a great message of acceptance. However the theatre is old and there are many steps. To take someone in a wheelchair is not easy. There is a tiny elevator which you access from the street and have to be taken in one at a time by... More

Dear Sandy Thank you for your review and I agree Kinky Boots has a wonderful message of acceptance delivered in an unexpected fashion and the show is full of joy which of course we all need from time to time. I am sorry that you feel there are too many steps in the theatre, but it was built in an... More

From Don's message about turning off mobiles, to the very end this was an amazing, entertaining show, with a subtle message. Costumes and makeup were immaculate, the story is heartwarming, the acting, dancing and singing was so energetic and involving. We really loved this show, cannot speak highly enough. Hope it has a long run.

From the very beginning (with a novel approach to turning off phones) to the very end (with all of the cast on stage), this was a fantastic production. The sets were clever, costumes amazing and the actors well cast for their roles. Special mention to Callum Francis - what a wonderful Lola.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
