Exceptionaly well stocked whisky bar.

Whisky & Alament is a great place where one can sample rare and interesting whiskies (guided by the knowledgeable staff). Low lights, small venue, excellent experience.

We stopped in here on a Saturday night and were lucky enough to get seats at the bar before the place filled up. If you like whisk(e)y, particularly scotch, Whisky & Alement would be hard to beat. They also make lovely craft cocktails, many involving said scotch. Lastly, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable... Wonderful bar experience overall.

Go through the little black door into whisky heaven! We were very fortunate to sample the Bar White Oak Japanese Whisky before it finished. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Great relaxed environment and highly recommend - can’t wait to go back and sample other amazing whiskys!

Called in with my man and our son, who both tried a Whisky but I went for a Gin n Tonic. Small place but great atmosphere. Will certainly go back. My men enjoyed the single malt whisky.

Visited Whisky & Element after dinner with the family. It was great with a wide variety of unique whiskies and tasty cocktails. The staff were friendly and knowledgable of their product. It was a lovely way to finish a great night. Will recommend to others to visit when in Melbourne.

This is heaven for any fan of whisky. As a fan of Islay peat filled scotch there were too many to try. Would recommend for long standing fans of whisky or even people trying to get into whisky, as the bartenders know a lot about scotch and have great recommendations.

Small premises which makes things really cozy. Varied clientele which adds to the atmosphere. An enormous selection of drinks. Worth a visit

If you like scotch, are in the city of Melbourne, you will like this place. It is a hidden little joint in Russell St across from QV. The list is quite extensive and the bar staff are knowledgeable. The night we tried it, there was a pop up Japanese bar at the front. They were giving tastes of 3 Japanese... More

I have visited here several times, as they run “meet the marker” scotch tastings regularly. This bar is small and cosy, nice and romantic. They have many scotches on offer, as well as a few beers, ciders and wines for non-scotch drinkers. The prices are a little high, but the selection is quite large. You can also buy takeaway of... Arrived into Melbourne mid Friday afternoon & checked into our hotel. "What should we do now?" was the question. "I know" I said. I've been wanting to visit Whisky & Alement for a long time but circumstances wouldn't allow. We arrived a couple of minutes after its opening time of 4pm. We were the first there. Lucky we arrived then... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
