The Royal Exhibition Building is one of the world's oldest remaining exhibition pavilions. On 1 July 2004, it became the first building in Australia to achieve a World Heritage listing. Located in Carlton Gardens, the pavilion was originally completed in 1880 for the first of two international fairs hosted by Melbourne. On May 1st, 1901, the initial Commonwealth Parliament was held here, an event commemorated in 2001, the centenary of Australian Federation. Today, with its meticulously restored interior, expansive galleries and soaring dome, the Great Hall offers an impressive setting for trade shows, fairs and cultural and community events.

The Royal Exhibition Building in Nicholson Street, Carlton on the edge of Melbourne's CBD is one of the world's great architectural beauties having been awarded the "UNESCO World Heritage" status in 2004. This building and its surrounding gardens make for a lovely view and photos when visiting Melbourne, and the inside of the building is also nice and open floor space.

Actually, it is a beautiful garden with elegant architecture, showing rich heritage from Britain. However, I rated the Royal Exhibition Building one-star because I would not classify here as a tourist attraction. This building is meant for locals participating in expos, so neither is the...More

Just outside the city is this amazing old building. Every time I drive past it, I have to slow down or stop and gaze. It is relaxing. Magnificent. Take a picnic and book and enjoy!

What a superb day. The food! The Wine! The shows! All wonderfully Italian. Far too many tasty authentic foods to mention. The Negronis to die for. Put me down again for next year.

The Royal Exhibition Hall is part of Carlton Garden. The tree-lined path to the Hall makes for a stunning approach and beautifully frames this mostly beaux arts building. We visited in April which is fall and enjoyed the changing leaf colors.

Within the sprawling Carlton Gardens grounds, this magnificent building was completed in 1880 to house the World Fair. The building's dome was modelled after Florence Cathedral's dome and the Grand Fountain outside, designed by Hochgurtel. The complex also has wonderful gardens, Melbourne Museum on site,...More

I went to the Melbourne Flowers and Garden show to REB at twilight (my second) and had a ball. The actual Carlton garden alone is already a treat, however the additional show displays made it even more stunning. Inside this heritage building, is a profusion...More

I think you've asked this question in the wrong place. Try asking on Hotel Jen Penang. Sorry can't help you there, I thought this would be relating to the actual royal exhibition building...

Best bet would be to contact the Melbourne Museum on 131102 for information.
