Melbourne has many stunning gardens and green spaces scattered throughout the city. There are typically benches for sitting to enjoy people watching or just relaxing. We have enjoyed three of their parks so far - and hope to visit more during our stay in Melbourne. Most parks don't allow bikes within the parks.

Melbourne's gardens are really quite magnificent and some are less visited than others. Although quite large Kings Domain is a good example of a great garden less visited unless you are going to the Sidney Myer Music Bowl or the Shrine. The Treasury gardens and Fitzroy Gardens are also great as are the Parliament Gardens. Spend time and check out... More

Amazing that generations ago thought to put this together so we can enjoy it today. A great place to bring a picnic, go for an explore, meet friends or have a birthday. We really enjoyed the children's garden - would be even better on a hot day with the water. You can purchase food and drink but it's rather expensive.... More

Truly one of Melbourne's great features. On a warm fine day with a gentle breeze you can feel you're in paradise wandering in the magnificent gardens in this city. There so many - the Botanical Gardens, the Treasury Gardens, the Fitzroy Gardens, the Flagstaff Gardens - the list goes on. I once ran into some Americans in Darwin of all... More

Melbourne can be very proud of its various gardens that are in and around the city. All are well maintained and provide a break from the traffic and activity of the city. Most do not take time to check them out but they are all worth a visit,

Good place to stroll around and have some quite time. Go there in the evenings and feed the possums. They are mostly tame.

Victoria is known as the Garden State, it's been printed on our car license plates, so it must be true. Victorians love their gardens, not only public gardens, but home gardens. Go to an established suburb anywhere in Victoria and you will see nice gardens. Gardens are found all over the city of Melbourne. Probably the most famous ar the... More

So many great gardens to visit around Melbourne. Too many to list and such little time to see them all. The great thing is they're free! Love this city
