Duyfken is the first known European ship to visit Australia in 1606, 164 years before the arrival of Captain James Cook. Nearly 400 years later a working full-scale replica was built in Western Australia to tell the 'Duyfken story'. You are invited to participate in the exciting replica project by visiting the replica in museum mode, sail on-board or become a volunteer.

Step back in time as you learn about the incredible voyages undertaken by the Duyfken, the harsh conditions endured on-board and the simple technology of the time. Discover how Dutch trade in Indonesia 400 years ago lead to early European exploration of Australia.

25 minute auto tour of the ship included in 45 minute guided tour.

There are rich, rewarding and exciting educational experiences here for all ages.

Great to hear the history of the sailing ships

It was great to see how the seamen and passengers live and travelled aboard these ships and the conditions that they endured.

We have always loved seeing anything to do with our seafaring past - and this little ship The Duyfken is well worth seeing. How did they make these, oh so long journeys in such a small craft.!! Beautifully made little ship and so much history behind it.

Duyfken 1606 Replica was built in Western Australia in 1999 and recently commemorated 400 years since Dutch discoverer Dirk Hartog and his crew made landfall off the coast of Western Australia [154 years before Captain Cook supposedly ‘discovered’ Australia]. A remarkable replica that should be seen.

Despite having a lifelong interest in maritime matters especially Australian sea voyages of discovery, I was unaware that the Duyfken replica was in Perth at the time of my visit, so it was a very pleasant surprise when I saw her whilst stroling along the riverside path. The ship's crew were extremely helpul and gave a first class audio tour... More

It's a very small ship. A little over priced. I'm a ship buff and have travelled extensively to see and sail on old ships... This is a 30 minute visit. Limited displays and Information. Still, if your on the quay pop in.

It was closed when we were in the area but the boat looked really nice and authentic. Would have gone in if it was open.

I love WA history so was looking forward to visiting the Duyfken replica and I wasn't disappointed. All the volunteers were helpful and friendly. I did a tour with two volunteer guides and they were enthusiastic and very knowledgeable and allowed me to go at my own pace. I particularly liked the captain's cabin and the explanation of how the... More

See the Duyfken 1606 Replica is an amazing exhibit,It's hard to believe something as small and fragile looking as that sailed around the world and visited these shores over 400 years ago. A must to take the kids to see.
